Anyone ever use SLR Service Centre in Co.Meath ?

It's listed on the Nikon UK website as an authorised repair centre.

I have a Nikon lens that needs some attention

    Thanks

Has anyone got through to mick in the couple of months? According to Nikon he's still the service agent.

SLR have a great service - quick turnaround (parts permitting) and quality work. I have used them for years without a problem.

Anyone know why they only accept equipment by courier? They wont let you bring it to them. Its only a 20 min drive for me to drop it into them but they insist I send by courier which will probably cost €30/40 for the round trip. I cant really understand the logic of that.

I have a 80-200 f2.8 and the manual/autofocus switch (which is a thin ring around the barrel) got split some time ago. Its still attached but very loose and so the lens works its way into manual when Im not expecting it. Its not really a massive deal but I have a 7 year extended warrenty so the only thing stopping me getting this repaired is the "courier only" rule

I cant say for sure but it might be to do with time contstraints of meeting people? or if he would have a lot of repairs then he might not have time to meet the amount of people that would be nearby losing him valuable time.
Either that or it is policy of an Authorised Service Repair centre.

I do repairs if you are interested give me a PM with details of the equipment and fault etc... :)

+1 for Zerohamster - he fixed my sigma 18-200 mm lens a few weeks back, and was a star to deal with, also very reasonable price-wise :) thumbs up, and thanks again!

Well when I contacted them again they said the reason they only accept items by courier is that they are not insured to have members of the public on the premises. They only have a workshop with no reception. Fair enough I suppose... thanks all you litigous people out there... this is the price we pay!!!

You could always turn up at their centre as Joe Blogs courier service with your item for delivery, its been done before ;)

I know that in the past they have met customers in Summerhill Village to pick up gear. If you ask them nicely they may do this for you. Dont quote me on this BTW.

This thread is a bit old, but because it comes up as the 3rd result if you google slr repair centre ireland I thought I write my experience with them!
AVOID this 'repair centre'! You rather want to send your lens to the uk. Funny enough that every time I trust some sort of service I get really dissappointed in this country! I should have known better and should spend more on the postage and send it to the UK.
My lens is in Rathmolyon since the 11th July!!! They sent me an estimate on the 10th August!!!, which I accepted in the very same hour they sent me the email to go ahead with the payment and repair! Today is the 14th September and they haven't done **** so far! It's ridiculous. I called on the 9th September to see what's the story is and that girl promised me to get back to me per email. Nothing yet. Today I called again and they're on annual business holidays until the 19th September. This is such a joke, so you better AVOID them and send it over to the uk!

My lens I sent over: 70-200 2.8 VI.
The estimate: 176.17€ -> Dismantle to repair focus helicoids assembly, Check and test.

This business has ceased operation as the owner has sadly passed away.
