Blacknight.ie have a basic hosting package at €35/year. I've just transferred some domains their way and have to say I'm impressed with their service so far particularly their telephone support.

Are you taking into account that .ie domains are far more expensive than others ?

letshost.ie and blacknight.ie are doing .ie domains for €29 and €30 at the moment which is good value.

Well OP, you get what you pay for, as they say.

I guess it really depends what you are looking for from your hosting.

There are many choices out there, some very cheap and some that are not so cheap, however, it is important to note that the cheapest options are not always the best as I've seen on many discussion boards.;)

Why? It looks like hosting365 is overpriced in comparison. I'm in the market for three separate sites and I think letshost.ie has the best value.

You can get 1000Gb of web space off companies in America for $5 does that mean there better?

If you want excellent uptime , free phone support and 24/7 e-mail support your going to have to pay
more than you would hosts who are simply resellers.

It's important to compare like with like and guage hosting by your requirements. Saying one host is overpriced compared to another is like saying a BMW is overpriced compared to a LADA. They are both, in essence the same thing, but both very very different experiences :)

Letshost may be cheaper, but they host their servers in the US and have no physical access to them (hint: that's why their cheaper : if there's a problem, you're scr*wed).

I've no dealings with Blacknight, their support and pricing gets rave reviews, but again, support and servers are in different offices.

Hosting365 are the only Irish hosting company (disclaimer: I do some work for them) with their own datacentre, servers, connectivity, engineers and support on-site.

Price is certainly a factor (I was bitten going for price and PROMISED service, which of course, the company wasn't actually able to deliver), but if you look around you'll find one with comparable prices AND the level of support you need to be able to trust your on-line business(es) to.

Yeah - but do also want reliability. What about a company like Interaxion. I have dealt with them before and they are reliable. I totally agree with *Novara.ie* .. Data Backups and getting a customer back up and running asap is very important. It could cost you your business if not handled properly.

Depends on what you are after really.

Interxion are a datacentre. They dont provide shared hosting, domains or dedicated hosting. Now, if you wanted a few racks of colocation and were doing your own support and management, they are an excellent choice :)

Ehhh .. they do provide dedicated hosting. I worked for a company that had 3 plus servers there. They handled all support and maintenance of the servers. It was a top quality service, with a fast response time. They always answered the phone (no waiting on hold) and were always professional.

They might have at one time, but don't now. It's all about picking the best match for what you are trying to do.
