Advertsing Premium SMS Services for a living

    Hello,

Not sure wheres the best place to put this but here goes.

Ive been in contact with someone who makes a good living advertising premium sms services mostly adult related. He told me because of the stricter laws on these kind of services in Ireland that the UK has a better market. These are mostly subscription services like dating, adult chat, daily adult video clips, daily adult stories etc

Basically all you do is advertise in newspapers etc and you earn a percentage of each subscription for as long as it lasts, the trick is knowing the right advertisement strategy.

My question is has many people tried this and is there really a good living to be made by this and if so do you know of any good companies in the UK preferably or that can operate in the uk that are looking for resellers. Any advice or personal experiences would be apreciated and if you want to keep the info private you can pm me if you like

Also if you can sugest a better place to post this thread let me know
    Cheers

Is there a good living in it? It depends on how much demand there is for your particular service and also how much of an advertising budget you have because basically to get visibility in a crowded marketplace like premium rate services, you need big ads or offer something new and different.

If you are first with a new service, you're onto a winner. Just ask Tom Higgins of Irish Psychics Live. He has so much money he doesn't know what to do with it apart from want to be the 1st Irishman in space - the gobsh1te.

I presume that each advertiser uses a different key word so the subscriptions can be identified as coming from that advert?

I would stay clear of it. In the rush to get subscriptions I can see that the advertiser will do anything which will probably end up in the SMS consumer being ripped off.

Has this not been overdone at this stage?? Those ads are everywhere now and the break throught the clutter would be pretty tough.

Also to advertise in magazines initially would cost alot of capital upfront and also no guarantee of return.
