i plan on goin to newport rhode island this summer, just wondering if any1's been there.
whats the story wit buying drink?whats best ID to get?
any1 work there last year and know places to get jobs

Story with buying drink is that you need to be 21 and americans are as strict as hell. Don't know about IDs, I went to Canada when I was 20 and I was fine, I was travelling across the States this summer and I was 21.

There is plenty jobs in the US if you are prepared to work for $2 to $4 an hour as for ID and booze don't drink simple as that it will do your pocket and liver oceans of good. america's a kip stay away imo

Go and have a savage time , as for drink you wont get into pubs/bars/clubs but you will get served in offo's with as much as a note from your ma to say your 21 .The house partys are better than some of the ****ty pubs. As for jobs cant really help you .

aye you might as well try it and give it a go. A year ago i left my passport at home and i just had my "garda id" card and that worked for getting into a club. have a great time and you might never go back to Ireland

Newport is a great town, expensive but great fun.
I never worked there but visted many times.
One thing to note, most of teh work is in the hospitality business, hotels, bars, resturants so the pay would not be great, and it's mainly the girls that get those jobs

Oh and by the way I agree with 'eoinf'

i prob shud of mentioned i wont be 21 in america so unless bouncers are dyslexic(r however the **** u spell it) then using my garda id wont be much good


is there any net site that does good id's that work there or is my best bet tryna get sum1 to forge irish drivers lisence???

only state driving licence's or foreign passports (which are hard to forge) will work. even with a good forged (get an old provisional from someone who is 21 , scalpel out the photo, put yours in and put a laminent over it ) Irish driving licence you will struggle to get into bars/clubs. I reckon you'll have to settle for house partys.

Newport is a town where they are very strict on ID, so no matter what people might tell you about what they got away with in NY, Boston of San Fran it will not work in bars or clubs in Newport

As ‘eoinf’ said they will only take passport or state drivers license, they may also take drivers license form Massachusetts, Connecticut, NY and a few other nearby states.
Excluding passports any sort of non US ID will not work.

Find alternatives for going to the pub, you will not be the only person u21 working there for the summer so I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself anyway.

as in cud i get locked at home and then go to club but get like a under 21 wrist band r sumtin???

How would that work? Surely you could just easily take the wristband off?

When I was over there in 2004, I wasn't really into drinking all that much. Just travelled around the entire border for a month. Only time we tried to get into a club was in New Orleans and only because it was so damn cool and was my mates 20th birthday. Didn't get in but had a mighty time anyway.

Tonnes of my friends (mostly aged ~20) went over this summer (San Diego, Chicago, etc...) and had no problems getting served at all.
