Has anyone that done similar give me indicative prices?

Moved house in dublin 4 years ago. Full 3 bed house. Wife found a company called Maguires in Bray. They had a bunch of options, But we gotthem to pack the contents into boxes, they moved it into storage (we were between homes for 3 weeks), then they moved the boxes and larger items from storage to our new house, putting the boxes in the correct rooms.

Forget the numbers, but it was something like £200 to pack the house contents, and £ 500 fro storage and moving the stuff.

It was our second house move, and I was skeptical about it (having borrowed a mates van and done teh first move myself) - I thought it would be cheaper just to rent storage and move it myself.

But it was painless. The guys turned up on teh appointed day, on time. They packed absolutely everything, labelled all the boxes, and moved it out. All in one day. It was amazing, they even took the lightbulbs out of the sockets (I put some spares that were in the car back in for the new owners).

When it all arrived at new house, everything was there, and amazingly nothing was broken. All the fragile stuff was extreemly well wrapped.

If I ever move house again, I'll definitely get that service. It was the business.

Sorry I've no more details about Maguires (the wife it out at the moment), but perhaps someone from bray or who has used them before can give you better contact details (or I'm sure thay're in the golden pages).

Overall they were failry reasonable and the service was top notch.

I have heard good things about UPAK (1800) 668464, never actually used them myself tho..

They have very flexible options such as hourly charges + supplying boxes a few days in advance so you can pack yourself to speed things up which will help keep the cost down!!

I moved from Dublin to Carlow about a year ago, and looked at what was available from the removal companys. Thought the prices were pretty steep. In the end, I just rented a van. Two runs in a 3.5t van (which only requires a car licence to drive) done the job. Admittedly, there is the extra hassle of having to pack/shift everything yourself, but I was lucky enough to have a mate who was happy to help out. (Amazing what some people will do on the promise of a dinner and a few pints :D ) Small tip on renting a van. I rented the van from a company that were closed on Sunday. I picked up the van on Saturday morning on a one day rental, but (as they were closed sunday) could not return it until Monday morning. 2 days use for the price of one. As far as I remember, rental and fuel came to about 140 euro.
