there is a new card room opened in kilkenny, their rake is 10% up to 5e, this seems a lot to me. What are the other card rooms doing...

That sounds very high to me. Where is this new card room Aidan and who is operating it? what tournaments are they running. From KK myself but living in Dublin now so only every played in house games down home.

it is near the carlton.. directly opposite the side entrance to market cross.

The tourneys are only starting next week, they seem to only have 1-2 cash games at the moment

So if the pot in a cash game is 50euro, they take 5?
And if the pot is 500 they take 50?

I think most (all?) the card rooms in dublin charge at any hourly rate per player, instead of taking a % of the pot.

no the maximum is 5e so of the pot is 500 the rake is still 5.. it is possible that at 1-2 nl a 5 max is not that bad a deal, im just wondering what other rooms do.. what is the hourly rate in dublin tables

Like it says in the above link, the rake is now €7.50 per hour in the Fitz for 1-2 p.l games. There seems to be a bit of confusion though about the collection method - but as Bohsman said its still raked per pot, not collected in any other way. Also, it's €11 p.h in the €100 game (not €15 p.h).

That rake is very good by European standards, probably about average for Ireland. In a typical €1-€2 hold'em game with €100 stacks they will be taking about the same as the Fitz, in a bigger game they will be taking a bit more than them.

They are still taking it in the same way in the Fitz, just taking more. Some dealers though take it in strange ways. One for example takes lots just after the rake is collected (might take €5 out of a €30 pot, which I seen happen a couple of times yesterday), then little later in the half hour. Consistency would be nice.
