Hi, Im upgrading in Febuary and the only component Im still unsure about is the motherboard.

Ive been looking at the Asus A8N-E which seems like a good board.

Does anyone have any recommendations in the €100-€120 price range?

Onboard sound is not a consideration and Im a bit meh about SLI, be nice to have it though.

Ill be pairing it with a 3700+, 1gb(2x512mb) dual channel CL2/2.5, 7800Gt and a SATA/SATA2 drive. Im also not that pushed about overclocking.

The Asus you've picked out is a good budget board and if you're not into overclocking and not bothered about SLI and only have €120 max to spend then I'd say you've made a good choice. The only bad thing I've heard about the board is the chipset fan. Apparently, the earlier batches of this board had faulty fans that would, first, get really noisy and, second, die after a couple of months but I'd say they've got the issue sorted by now.

Personally though, if I was in your shoes, I'd stretch me budget to the Asus A8N SLI Premium. A much better board and heatpipe cooling on the chipset. But it is quite a bit over you r budget though. €185.

Well Ill see what I can do, if I can get a good second hand case (Im looking at the Sonata 2 at the moment) or some other stuff off boards (have my eye on an unopened 3700+ for €200 on FS-CH), Ill put the savings into the motherboard fund. After all its probably going to outlast the other components.

Is it just me or does boards go offline around 3am?
