    Howdy All,

Eircom wireless broadband - worked fine straight out of the box - WEP enabled - months later sister announces she is getting a wireless laptop too - question...

..what key can be used to setup the second laptop - can the first key be used with several laptops simultaneously - if yes then why are there 4 keys - if not then is use limited to just 4 pc's ?

The different possible keys are there for a variety of reasons. I'm not sure if many places actually bother with them. But yes, you can have an unlimited number of clients using the same key.

Those 4 keys are kinda like presets. people often rotate keys for security reasons.

A bit like changing the lock on your front door every month just in case someone has got a hold of your key.

As above; it's to make it more difficult to identify the WEP key - however, in practice, enough packets can be injected in a short enough time to get the desired result.. so it's not that much of a bonus (It's just another one of those 'make the git work that a small bit harder "security" measures' :p)
