Just back from funderland with the mot. (No im not a skanger or a teenager, im in me late 20's so is she)

Anyway im wrecked. Did all those rides to make u puke. Still shaking but the buzz was fantastic.

Anyway, anyone ever had a bad experience on rollarcoasters or funfair rides.

I did space mountain in euro disney twice in a row after the buzz of the first time! yeah i know, im not very impressive..

    whats mot out of interest?

I imagine walking around funderland tonight is akin to vom-swerving on dublin footpaths on a sunday morning...

I like Funderland. I was there a few days ago. One of the rides, I can't remember the name, scared the crap out of me. The guy operating it looked like a wino, and it kept making these clunking sounds.

I was there once and someone else vomited over me. Not a pleasant experience.

PS What does a 'skanger' or 'teenager' have to do with it?

LovelyHurling - 'mot' is a charming expression used by some Dubliners to describe their girlfriend.

Well its about 3 years since I went to funderland, 5 since I went their not with a bird. But yes, when I last went there, back in my youthful and single days, it was the place for mooching birds, normally little D4 chicks with loads of make up on or boggers up for the day trying to dip into the healthy Dub genes. Bit like going to the Wez except with more culshees.

Oh i seen a few of those when i went last week. Operators that look wasted = i get nervous

There was one ride, called Booster i think, that was very good.

Is it terrible to say you're a Dub in his mid 20s who has never set foot in Funderland? Is there something wrong with me.....apart from being a Dub in his mid 20s (get that in before the rednecks start their abuse).

    Agree though,
The guy operating it looked like a wino

was nearly getting on one at Oxegen last year till I saw the cut of the lads running it

It is kinda bad to say that...if your a Dub, you should reallly go at least once in your life..
This year I went on a really scary one..it kept clicking and making very scary noises...the thought that I was going to die kind of added to the whole adrenaline buzz of it though I suppose.

the one time ive been to funderland, i puked my ring up, but that was probably about 15 years ago. ive learned to not do any of those rides since.
    i do however like rollercoasters.

although, my favourite ride so far has been this one: http://www.portaventura.es/pa/ficha.asp?pTipo=1&pNivelA=2&pNivelA1=4&pNivelA2=6&pNivelA3=52&pFicha=2

i heartily recommend going to theme parks in late septemeber just before they close for the season.
you get to go on all the rides as often as you like with absolutely no wait!

The Dragon Khan is so good! We were there in high season, so plenty of queues but one night at about 11.30 when everybody was congregating for the fireworks to start we went on the Dragon Khan 8 times in a row, no queues...didn't feel too great afterwards

Not so much a bad experience really, but I was on space mountain in eurodisney and it broke down mid-session. I think the power went or something, because the carraige thing slowed nicely down, luckily before one of those sharp corners :D

We had to be rescued altough I can't remember how exactly. It's supposed to be pitch dark in that mountain but they turned on the floodlights and ruined the magic :'(

Went there recently with a few friends, one of whom puked all over the magic carpet while it was in motion. Nasty business. The token guy had to get the vomit mop and got stuck in, double time. As soon as he had mopped most of it up and threw a bucket of bleach over the seat, he started trying to usher the next set of people in.

No surprises that they waited for the next ride.

haha, I love it when people don't know what that stupid word "mot" means.

Makes sentences like "Just back from funderland with the mot." sound like "Just back from funderland with the AIDS."

Point of information - the rides are filled with mechanisms, bolts, ratchets, anti rollback devices and a lot of other equiptment. And guess what. They make noises.Even beloved dragon khan in Port Aventura make mechanical sounds. It's funny how people will always claim that their bar was not down or the way their car was clicking it felt like it was about to fly off but when did you last hear about a serious accident at Funderland or any other Irish funfair?

damienom, I would be very interested to hear what put you off going on the ride in Oxegen and what ride it was seeing as I know the owners of the funfair.I'm sure they'll take your comments very seriously.

It shouldn't make clunking sounds though, you could kinda feel a slight jolt too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 511 ✭✭✭LiamD

Why shouldn't it make clucking sounds?Does your car's engine not make noise when you're driving it?And what do you mean you could 'kinda feel a slight jolt too'?

Rides that make strange noises making you think you're about to be flung miles into the sea only add to the excitement imo.

same as muslims going to hajj then, only Funderland offers a slightly improved chance of not being crushed to death.

Anyway-I puked once in F/land. On the tarantula and it went all over the place (except on me :) )
