Got a brand new dell using xp. Worked fine for the first couple of days but today I got the following on boot:

floppy diskette seek failure- strike the f1 keys to continue, f2 to run the set up utility. (I dont have floppy). yada yada if this is first time reboot but this happened a couple of times and now Im getting nothing. Monitor says it is in power saving mode yet works ok on pc I'm using now. The power on button has no response and when I remove and replace power cord doesnt sem to be doing anything.

    Any suggestions ?

If there is a hardware issue, I dont want to be given the run around by dell. What are the conditions of returning a pc within 7 days for refund if used ?

Power the pc on > keep hitting delete while the pc is starting > look and it should say somewhere down the bottem default settings or optimised settings hit that button and then save the settings and restart... hope that fixes it lol

No I can't get that far. Seems to have shut itself down and is in power save mode. Is there any key combination that shuts off power save mode ? There is nothing wrong with screen. ADSL & USB don't seem to be recognised. Amber LED light at front and roms open and close with green lights

pull the plug out of the back, leave it for a minute, plug it in turn it on kepp hitting delete/f2 its one or the other, go to flopp drive and chane it from 1.44mb to none, save and exit, Wait for the PC to restart if that doesnt do it, RMA it:D

You really should call Dell Support ..... if they can't give you a solution over the phone ask them to collect it (at their expense of course) ....

    I believe Tech Support is tel no. 1850 543 543 ...... (a local call :p ) ....

Thanks lululady. Kinda ironic that you work for Dell as it is now 5 months later ;) and I was only looking at notes last night that I had written down because of the hassle that I went through trying to give the machine back and the dreadful Interlink couriers BUT I did buy another Dell and working fine apart from the fact that there is a problem with the burner BUT that will be saved for another day :(
