    Hey,

    Just a short post to let you know (if anyone is thinking about it) that the transfer deadline for anyone looking to transfer into a JF Course different from your own is Friday coming, the 13th of January. You can of course transfer into JF from other years. This deadline is only for students looking to transfer into a different JF course.

    If you are looking to transfer, contact your tutor immediately since it is him/her who has to sign off on the transfer request. Your tutor should also be able to advise you on any questions you might have.

    If you can't contact your tutor, call into the Senior Tutor's Office (located here) - they can act as your tutor, or you can e-mail them - stosec@tcd.ie.

    To let you know what type of requirements you will need, read on!

    ***

    In order to be allowed transfer into a JF Course different from your own, the following criteria must be met:
    1. There must be a free place in the course you are transferring into;

    Your tutor should be able to find out whether there is a free place in a course you are transferring into.

    2. You must meet the entry requirements of the course (i.e. Points & any obligatory subjects or subject results);

    You can check this yourself, by going to the CAO website and also to the TCD Admissions website.

    3. There can't be any timetabling constraints; and

    Tutor, who will find out after liaising with the relevant departments.

    4. You must be approved by the relevant department.

    This will involve a short "interview" by the department or whatever academic unit. Usually, all it requires is for the head of department/school/faculty or whoever to ask you why you want to transfer in. Just relax for this, you can only do your best.

    If you have any questions over the coming weeks, please get onto me - I can go through the process with you, especially since I transferred through this process myself back in first year!! My e-mail is education@tcdsu.org.

    But if you are even thinking about transferring, have a read of the prospectus (7.1 MegaBytes) and try and see your tutor as soon as you can.

    Best of luck,

    Dónal
