First of the 9/11 inspired movies... directed by Paul Greengrass (whose previous work included 'The Bourne Supremacy and 'Sunday Bloody Sunday):

    'Flight 93' Teaser

I like the look of it... the dialogue over the radar mapping is a nice touch and just the brief glimpse of a scene near the end whets the appetite.

Probably another 20 more planned on the same topic but still, this will probably be worth a look!

    Hopefully it will be good.

He is, imo, a Fantastic director (I though the bourne supremacy was easily last years best blockbuster)

If it dosent get mired down in american flag waving it should be good

good director, potential to be a great film alright.

as peteee said, the film will loose a lot if it ends up being a "yeehaw go america!" type affair. good teaser though, does exactly what it's supposed to do (rather then give the whole effin story in 30seconds)

I can't see it going down the route of the American flag-waving diplomatic shenanigans.. with Greengrass not being American as the director and writer, i can see him being pretty straight-cut in telling the story and can see it being a effective and potentially moving dramatisation.

The teaser is quite effective... quite terrifying in a way listening to the dialogue playing - got goosebumps while watching it! Would be nice to see on a cinema screen.

Has been penned for release simultaneously on 28 April 2006 in the US and UK / Ireland.

PS - there's a TV movie with the exact same title and premise due to be shown this year at some point too!

I thought Greengrass treatment of Bloody Sunday was excellent so I hope he applies the same style and restraint to this one. Letting the events speak for themselves will be powerful enough - flagwaving etc will get tedious. He's an English director though so that will hopefully give me a bit of distance from the events.

Teaser is quite good but would have liked slightly more actual movie footage. Im sure this will oly be the first of many movies about 9/11 but hopefully this will be good. Ill be checking it out anyway but I hope that it doesnt turn out to be a propoganda movie. With Greengrass im sure it wont be.

I assume even with Greengrass doing it will be the passengers as heros story that has been comfortably accepted as what happened.

Hmm, could be interesting, hopefully not too much flag waving. Perhaps they could have left off the footage at the end, I think the earlier parts are enough to make you uncomfortable.

Wonder will the names of the real people who died be included in the credits, I'd imagine so.

And here's a new theatrical trailer!

    Looks excellent!

Eh, I think that's like giving away the plot to Titanic!!::rolleyes:
Just watched the theatrical trailer. It looks like it's gonna be moving, shocking and,as all the events of that day were, unbelievable!! This movie will sream the human agony of being caught in that situation as did the excellent documentary The Falling Man. I'd recommend anyone who has become desensitised about 9/11 by conspiracy theories to see this doc.

People said the same about Open Water, which turned out to be one of the worst films of the year. This looks like it's filmed in the same style too. Actually, the same goes for The Bourne Supremacy. A different director might have been better.

Ohh.. I was wondering about the "United 93" and "Flight 93" thing. I presumed they were 2 seperate films and not the same one. I don't know. Making a movie about this is basically just going to be a flag-waving thing really. From what i can see. How can you make a movie out of this though?

Okay, so that trailer link has changed.. it's now http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/united93/small.html

Trailer link still works - you just need to choose your size when you get there!

you know what i mean. obviously we know how it ends, but there's a beginning and middle before we get there. we all knew the titanic would sink, but we didn't know there'd be a stinking story shoved in there too.

    theatrical trailer looks fantastic

;) Only messin' Project! Yea the Teaser trailer intriuges but the theatrical trailer really gave me goosebumps!! I watched Larry King interview the families of the relatives of the passengers who made the phone calls to their loved ones and they said that they were hands on in the writing of these key elements of the movie and they were very satisfied with how the film turned out. Something tells me that the underlying element within this movie will be "Would you have done or tried to do the same?"..

Looks like a nice work of fiction, they were blown out of the sky by their own government, hardly heroes !

Gotta agree with you Daveirl! Yes,the military obviously discussed what their options were regarding this plane's fate but before the ultimate course of action was taken, passengers such as Mark Bingham DID attack and take the plane down! They knew they were dead anyway!! I wonder how many people have contacted the relatives of the victims to tell them that they know for sure,or at least, are convinced by overwhelming evidence, that they were shot down by the United States Airforce?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,709 ✭✭✭BolBill

How do we know this? Has anyone actually heard the evidence, PLEASE do me a favour.

Actually, the story behind Flight 93 is that the passengers on the plane brought it down themselves. Well that's what we're told anyways.
