Dect base station 2 lines?

Hi, I've searched the forum but can't find any recommendations on this one. Have I got the logic of this set up right?

I've signed up to Blueface with the Netgear TA612 ATA. So now I've got an Eircom line and a Blueface line each with their own telephone number.

I'd like to hook up a DECT base station to the ATA and also connect the same DECT base station to the PSTN line. So that requires a two line DECT base station.

With that set-up, you would be able to take incoming calls from either Blueface or Eircom on the one set of DECT handsets. That would save on having two sets of phones.

Ideally you could assign different ringtones to each line.

The handsets could also default outgoing calls to the Blueface line but allow selection of the other line if needed.

Can anyone recommend a suitable 2 line DECT base station for this set-up?

    Thanks very much

I don't know of any DECT stations that can do this but you could use an ATA like the Grandstream 486 to do exactly what you suggest. The setup would be ATA -> Router, and then both the DECT & Analogue Line -> ATA. Calls go via VoIP by default and you can specify whatever prefix you want to send the call over the existing analogue line when required. The Sipura 3000's will also do this but they're pricey. Anybody that wants to retain an existing landline will always come across this issue whereby they've now got 2 or more independent lines - the original analogue line and then 1 or more new VoIP line(s). It would be a pity to spend more money just for this but very few VoIP devices are bothered with ye olde analogue line.

Just out of curiosity - why keep the Eircom line?

Keeping the Eircom line as it provides the broadband, via BT. But I'd review moving to a fully wireless setup after 6 months.

I had a look at the Grandstream 486. It does some of the things I'd like to achieve but not all as far as I can tell, e.g. different ring tones for incoming calls depending on whether its a call to the PSTN line or the VoIP line.

Off to check out the Sipura now!
