I know theres a couple of threads out there explaining fuel and that so I don't want this one to take up too much. I think it'll be more directed to our resident fuel expert but any input is appreciated.
I'm running 16% Tornado through my JATO at the moment. The problem is that the tank on the truck is a very dense white plastic, can't really see through it at all. I'm not really into changing from the Tornado b/c I think it's doing a great job. Is there any way at all that I can colour the fuel? ie. Food colouring or something along those lines. I've run the tank dry a couple of times b/c I've misread the fuel level, can't think much of that is any good

    Cheers,
    John

hi why don't you time you runs or just open the tank with the quick opener lid.

Send me a PM - there is fluorescent methanol friendly fuel dye available. Less than 10 drops in a gallon will make it glow like it's radioactive! A teeny bottle will do a lifetime's worth of fuel.......
Can't resist the double meaning of "dying"......
Thinks: "Aaargh ...." Clutches at pain in chest.... " Oh no, ouch...aaah.... not now God .... I've still got some fuel dye to use up ...can you come back later...."

I would use the fuel dye like you suggest.
    But there is another way....

Here is a trick we used to use....
Drill a hole top and bottom, of one side, of your fuel tank.
Tap in a fuel nipple top and bottom.
Drill a 5mm hole in the car body adjacent to the "new" fuel nipples you have fitted into the tank.
Add 3" of totally clear fuel tube onto the fuel nipples, but the tube goes up the outside of the body.
The tube now acts as a visual fuel level guage, as the fuel is the same level in it, as it is in the tank.

PS...It's a good idea to try tapping threads on an old broken tank first.

Thanks for all the help lads.
I've tried timing the runs but I could have 5 mins of low throttle bashing then 5 mins of high throttle runs. Never really works out. I think i'll try get the "radioactive" dye
    As I said, MANY thanks

    John
