has anyone ever heard of having to have screws put in your mouth when you have braces? my gf might have to have it done and it sounds a bit dodgy to me. its something to do with closing a gap between her molars and her front teeth apparently.

i'm not asking for any medical advice. i just want to see if anyone else has had it done or the dentist is just an idiot

I could be wrong here cause I dont know the details but when you want to move teeth around with braces you need something to pull or push from....this is usually a tooth or lots of teeth via bands on the teeth, or head gear but reciently dental implants (titanium screws) can be placed to act as anchorage. Cause the implant is totally rigid and cannot move it makes a good point to pull or push teeth from.

now that there's a mention of braces, how can you manovure the front tooth from >>> this direction to straight?, I know it looks stupid, but my teeth are straight but one of my front two teeth is slanted >>> this way and its getting worse, how do i fix it , would I need braces?, the Orthodontist wouldn't say much as she says its not that bad, but hell you can see it on photos , it sticks out, aarrrrrhhh, I know its getting worse and i would be even delighted if something would push it back into its normal position,

other might see this as nothing but its annoying me far to long.

Yep, think u need braces to fix that...cant think of another solution... but i had braces...for like 2 years..pain in the ass at the time...but teeth are straight now hooray! but they cost a serious amount of money so only get them..if u feel u cant go on in life with a fecked up tooth and dont mind having to wear them for what could be 2 years.

As for the question about screws?i dunno i never heard of em anyway...??

You have two or three options. If its out of line a little bit you could get a crown or a veneer on the tooth to bring it back into line, however this would involve cutting the tooth. The other option would be braces, this would take a lot longer.

It depends on the reason the tooth is out of line....is your bottom teeth knocking it out when you bit....did it come down out of place and there is no room for it to go into line?

No I think it just progressed that way over the years as a result of my baby teeth falling out and it was the first pernament tooth and my two front teeth came up in a gap of differnent times , i'd say there was not much room .

and the other question, No my front top teeth are not pushed by my bottom teeth, i have a retainer in to hold them while my wisdom teeth are coming up.
    so thats alright.

    what's a vineer?
anything would do as I wouldn't think my orthodontist would put heavy braces on just to push one tooth back, however its noticeable.

just a quikie, anyone do a survey on hwo many have had braces or not?
