Sorry I havent been but Id love to go myself... Although I could see myself just getting really dehydrated and burnt out in the desert on a session like that... Im bad enough on a week in Tenerife never mind a place like that... would definately need to keep the head screwed on re water food etc... Have you any idea how to go about getting to it??

I wonder would any travel agents do a package deal or anything like that?? Hmmm

my mates went during the summer and said it was an amazing experience.

they went in a big winnebago that they rented between 16 of them. they stayed there for the week.

they said that ur better off bringing anything ur going to need with u. beer food water etc etc cos the place is full of hippies and they love trading stuff with one another ( feel the love, man)

oh yeah ive been told u can expect complete and utter madness the whole time ur there

i plan on going this summer too but depends on what part of the world im in, not planning on spending too much time in the states. going thailand, new zealand, oz then america for the summer

I saw a documentary on it a few months ago from one of the first festivals. Looks good. Excuse to get drugged up and shag really.

From the hardcore goers apparently it has become very commercialised and the original 'buzz'/'meaning' has been slightly lost.... Happens to all festivals eventually.

It's kindof a celebration of alternativeness, as near as I can tell. Bohemia meets the Free Love Generation with modern chemicals.

Not my cup of tea, personally, but if there is any advice I will give you, it is bring water. Bring a -lot- of water. If the boot of your car isn't at least half-taken up by exclusively water, you are wrong.

In the Nevada desert, each person should be drinking about gallon of water every four hours, to a maximum of three gallons a day. Be sure also to bring some Gatorade or other such electrolyte-laden substance and don't skip meals: I've seen people go down to heat exhaustion because though they've been keeping hydrated, they've also been flushing the electrolytes out of their system. You do -not- want to be stuck with the size of the needle they give for I.Vs when people go down for dehydration. Trust me.

Here's a rough guideline. I'll assume that most activities that attendees will be partaking in will count under the 'minimum work level' column on the left.

    Go for it!

My brother has been DJing there in the past few years and has some awesome pictures and video footage. Even though I lived in California I never managed to haul my a$$ down there.

I'm may be going this year but I was there in 2000 and to this day I still call it the most defining week of my life. You know those really rare times in your life when you look at yourself and at your surroundings and everything is completely off the wall but strangely the way it should be? I really learned a lot about myself that week. Whoever you are you'll find a place/situation you'll fit in to.

Anyways, practicalities.....water, of course. The motto is 'leave no trace' so bring a bin bag and dont drop your cigarette buts. Oranges and grapefruits are great. Bring stuff to barter - lighters, condoms, chocolate. Theres no currency there (except for centre camp where they sell orange juice and coffee and nothing else). Suncream, hat, body glitter....fancy dress...a smile and a hug!

You know its not a music festival, right. Well there will be music. Paul Oakenfold was there in 2000. Bring fire juggling stuff if ye have it, although there be plenty there. Glow sticks!!! Bring a camera - there will be some fantastic art work and fantastic camps and automobiles. Some guy built a giant anus with steps up one side and a slide down the other.. Another crowd reproduced Thunderdome from Mad Max with bungi rope and bats...oh the memories. You will love it - provided you have an open mind and leave your predjuces in Reno (you in general, not you in particular...)

    Might see you there....

I would love to go myself. I like the idea of spending a few days somewhere where anything goes.

I was there a couple of ears ago and I swear the time it took to have a p*ss on the side of the road I got burnt!

Bring lots of water. Dunno about chocolate do. It will melt very esasliy (as out rental company found out)! Get something else with lots of carbs in it instead
