itrips are just terrible! My advice, look for a different make. I have a fantastic one that has a seperate tuner for it. It's in the car and Im too lazy to check what make it is but I think it's made by monster or something.

I had an iTrip, but my iPod broke, and they replaced it with the new iPod video, and it doen't work with that.

Quick question on iTrip. Friend of mine went to buy one in London. Dude kind of did it discretely, she's convinced he told her it's illegal. Have any of ye heard this? I told her it was a pile of b0llox.

It is illegal, here and in the UK.

it is illegal here because of the broadcasting laws. in theory you are broadcasting a signal if you have an itrip etc

Thanks Mak. Are all adaptors of that kind illegal?

The use of any transmitter, including the iTrip, Belkin Tunecast, and other products to transmit audio on the FM band is illegal here and in the UK because under broadcasting laws, you cannot transmit an FM signal (any distance) without a radio broadcasting license.

There are some manufacturers (Belkin, for example) who are currently trying to get the governments to effectively change the law so that a broadcasting license will only be required if your transmitter is transmitting beyond a certain distance (5 metres for example), but until this change takes place, these devices (which can be legally bought in other countries, such as the USA and are not illegal to import to the UK or Ireland) will remain illegal to use here.
