applerock - foley street (behind the shops opposite connolly station!!)
    - €50 for 5 hours
    - kit, 2 guitar amps and bass amp supplied
    - three large rooms and four smaller rooms..
i'd recommend this place...once you get in its an alright place...

temple bar music centre - temple bar (obvious i know!)
    - €58 for 10:30 - 5 session and im not suire about the evening sessions!!!
    - kit bass amp and one guitar amp supplied
    - all large rooms
probably the best place if you can get a booking!!!!

sound lease - ballymount industrial estate (just outside tallaght)
    - €45 (i think) for a four hour session
    - kit, bass amp and one guitar amp supplied
    - one or two large rooms and four more smaller ones

those are all the ones weve been to so far (i think) ill post up more if i can remember them!!!! C

Kross, its up on Kimmage road west. 4550367. They are nice guys up there and they alwaystook good care of us when we were there. :ninja:

The Jam Factory is in temple lane and charges 50 euro for 4 hour sessions, 10-2,2-6,6-10
A bit pricey but it's a great little studio run by a real nice guy and they've just installed arecording studio for your demos.
Temple bar is ok but it's pricey and you either get some knobs or really nice bloke. it ranges from 64-70 euro and you can get 5 hour sessions like 10-5 or 5.30-10.
It's a bit too expensive for me and if you look around you can find cheaper places.
Loop studios off o'connell street charge 50 euro for the following times mon-sun
    11.00-5.00
    5.30-10.00
    10.30-1.30
My advice is check out Jam factory and loop studios

For those of you in Waterford City,

Ruby Studios in the Tycor Business Center is all ya need!

Rehearsal rooms, equipment hire, and recording facilities.

    Contact Alex on 0876106439

    Tell him Jim sent ya!

    Some URLs:

    http://www.loop.ie/

    http://www.thejamfactorydublin.com/

I googled The Underground, Soundlease and one or two others but no luck.

If anyone knows them maybe they'd post them.

After years rehearsing Ive come to the conclusion that what makes a decent rehearsal studio is having the following facilities.
    Free and ample car parking.
    Toilet.
    Tea/drinks machine.
    No more then 50 euro.
At least room for a 6 piece.

Obviously a prerequisite is decent gear that can be changed or added to helpful staff, but the above points can all add to a location.

TBMC is good but is pricey and you have to add car parking costs to it. The staff I thought were (when I was there at least) cool, but at times gear wasnt the best.

Am currently in sound lease in ballymount, they can be got at 4509711 or 4509145. theres 5 rooms, ample parking and jacks but no drinks machine. Its 50 euro for a session, we normally do 7-11ish so I dont how long it is during the day. You'll need to get any gear problems sorted out before the guy leaves at 7ish as he doesnt come back til later to lock up (I dont think Ive ever been in a rehearsal room anywhere when at some stage or other, Ive finished a song and someones poked their head in looking for a hihat pedal!!!). If you need any specific requirements let them know when booking and they'll leave in the room for you. The upstairs front room is the best IMO.

There's a new rehearsal studio in Balbriggan, North Co Dublin called Troy Horse (wierd name!)

Have no idea what it's like yet - just got the flyer in the door (attached). They have two other studios which are mysteriously in Australia.

Website is www.troyhorse.com, but it's severly broken.

Will check them out and get back with prices...

    merge here

Hi I'm Peter and I built the Troy Horse Music Centre in Balbriggan. We have 2 rehearsal and recording rooms. The gear is good and it's new, the place is clean, the vibe is great and the view out to sea is pretty nice.

This place was built because we are all musicians and have faced the same problems as everybody else so we took the bull by the horns.... You are welcome to call in for a coffee and check us out, please call first to make sure someone will be there or there isn't a recording session in full swing, 01-8417573.

Parking is available in the railway station car park opposite and on the street below. It is cool weekends or after 5 - can be tricky during office hours.

Peak rate (8-11pm mon - Fri or weekends) is €45 for room and PA and we have guitar (peavey and yamaha) and bass amps (ampeg and behringer ultrabass) for hire at €5 each. There is a pearl kit which we don't charge for - please bring your snare and cymbals (and stands) as you would for a gig. If you book regular slots we'd throw in an amp for free and make you a cup of tea. There are early bird rates (5-8 = €35) and daytime, stand by and drummer rates also available.

Yeah the names weird but I'd like to think we aren't - I worked at the ones in Australia for a number of years and so we all share a similar ethos - for musicians by musicians -hence the link.

    Cheers.

I'm sorry guys but the best studio in Ireland for rehearshal is in Ringsend, its called the Factory studios and its pretty much the only professional studios in the country, hosting everyone form Bowie to Brittany, its where Zooropa was recorded and has a number of dance studios aswell.

    Its starts around 70 euros for an evening session, from 5-10. but the rooms are hugh with really high ceilings and proper 24 track desks with big 10 k rigs plus 4 moniters, essentially you can get a better sound here than in most venues in town. { you can actually hear the vocals.....}

It sounds crazy expensive but for what you get it is really good value.
two problems though there is no going back once you have been there,
and you bring your own gear including drum, (this is where the professional bit comes in). but they also have their own car park so no extra costs there.

All in all though I recemend if you have got transport Book studio 2 even for one night so you can see how the other side Rocks out. { i mean they even have a forklift to load your gear up the stairs } their no is (01) 6684966 i think, its in the book anyway.

 There's a new place in Blackpitts that is pretty good. All new gear and the sound is great. It called The Rehearsal Room and the web address is www.rehearsal-room.com. You can book online or phone Seamus. (086) 3044503. He'll set it up for you. We rehearsed there last week for E12 an hour. The great thing is there was also private parking too.

It's not far from town, near St Patricks Cathedral. There are four rooms, not huge, but better than a lot of the other places I've been to.

Just thought I'd let ya'll know... I have rehearsed in every rehearsal studio (and all of their incantations) in Dublin for the last few years. They all change from time to time. Depending on who's working the session, who's been in the room before you etc... You know what I'm talking about. It doesn't really matter where we rehearse, provided the gear is decent enough, you can park there, you can get tea/coffee and the person working there knows about the equipment and gives a ****! At the mo we rehearse in APPLEROCK STUDIOS. We rehearse on weekends mostly, and they have a great deal for this summer. It used to cost us 55euro and we were pleasently surprised to get hit with a bill for 50euro last time we were in. That seems to be the best deal in the country! We get two guitar amps, bass amp and kit/w kick pedal and snare for 50euros!!!. The weekend session times are from; 9.30-1.30, 2-6 and 6.30-10.30. It's located in Foley St off Talbot St (where Bord Gais moved to). Despite what some people say we find it really good! Big car park, free video game machine, clean toilets. If it's about the music and cost effectiveness, you should check it out! You can get them on 8364400 or 0872361515 or email applerock@eircom.net for info. Hope this is of some use to you. Cheers!

I regurlarly rehearse in "The Rehearsal Room" The equipment includes an FBT Pa system, 2 guitar amps, A Bass amp and a forum series pearl kit, If you get charged for them, the snares are €3 as are the cymbals, avoid room 1 as the Drum kit is in Rag order, Go for room 3 if poss.
supposedly Bellx 1 rehearse in there too!
Go up to Whelans and take a right and keep heading foreward untill you reach a dead end (about a 5-10 min walk) and then turn right, the first drive way you see turn right, and theres a door around the corner with a buzzer
Looks a bit iffey from the outside, AVOID THE BATHROOM AT ALL COSTS!!
Couches in all rooms and free tea and coffee, nice atmosphere and dirt cheap daytime rates €12 per hour before 6pm ;)

I've been to The Rehearsal Room and the kit in room one is fine. Actually it's exactly the same as in all the other rooms. The Toilets are fine too. At least there is always toilet paper!!!

It's a cool place to rehearse and if something is broken or just doesn't work, they always replace it. The website is cool too. www.rehearsal-room.com. If you've not been there you should check it out.

    Dear Gizmodeon,

Many thanks for your kind words about The Rehearsal Room. If ever you have a problem with any of the equipment or any other queries please don't hesitate to let reception know and they will immediately repair or replace it. Seemingly you failed to let anyone know that the problem with the kit in room one was due to a lose screw on a tom. It is an overstatement to say that the kit was "in Rag Order". We at The Rehearsal Room pride yourselves in maintaining our equipment and looking after the needs of our clients.

If you have any questions regarding the toilet facilities I would be happy to address them. I fear you have have strayed into a the paint room which will become a useable toilet when contruction to the large room downstairs is complete. The toilet for your clients is located upstairs close to the coffee dock.

Again many thanks for the positive words you expressed and by replying in such a public way I only want to disspell any false impressions your critisms may have created.

    Thanks Scoby,

You're right. The Rehearsal Room give all new customers a free security deposit when they register. You will only need to pay a deposit if the band doesn't show up for rehearsals, or when you cancel without the 48 hours notice.

Soon the website will have an automated cancellation list where the customer enters their mobile number and the site will text them if the rehearsal time they want becomes available.

In the meantime, work has begun on the fifth large room. Any developments will be posted on this forum in the near future.
