after making it so clear why the issing bank won't clear it why not just put it into a bank account? Most banks credit straight away. Nothing difficult about it at all.

TSB wont cash it unless i have that amount in my account.
Others will lodge it but im looking to cash it, seeing as its a tax cheque you would think it would be possible.

Deposit it and you are then able to withdraw the money immediately is normally how you can get around it. What kind of money are you talking about ?

Lodge it, and they'll let you withdraw against the cheque... if it bounces you're acount will be in Debt though.

It shouldn't be possible to cash an account payee cheque. If you cash the cheque, it doesn't go into your account (it essentially goes into the bank's account), and then revenue will wonder why the cheque wasn't paid to the person to whom it was addressed.
In theory, you shouldn't be able to cash any cheque except those made out to "Cash".

    Ditto MorningStar.

I just did the same this lunchtime with a Revenue tax rebate cheque. Yippee!

Lodge it into your account. Then once this is done and you would normally walk away, request a withdrawal.

This seems to be more acceptable to them than simply trying to cash the thing.

With me it was AIB. YMMV!
