Not so much a problem as an annoyance i think. It can be quite hard to select 2nd gear, tends to get "caught" especially going from say 4th to 2nd, i have to use a small bit of force to make sure its fully across and then down, its usually on the down part of the shift that it "catches" something. Is this unusual? Can also occur when moving from 3rd to 1st.
Car is a mkIV golf, 30k, serviced at 26k.
    thanks

Does this have cables or lots or arms, linkages and bushings.
Cause VW shifters with all thos e linkages and bushings are very prone to wear and having problems selecting the appropriate gear. and also chack the ball in the floor, it suffers (disentgates) a bit also.
