Sky+ for existing customers

    I rang yesterday and a girl told me Sky+ is €149, and €15 per month, and they would relocate the old box for multiroom. What isnt clear is, does the €15 extra cover the multiroom and sky+?

    Also as I live alone I dont really want multiroom.....! Is there any way of getting the €69 package? I wonder if I cancelled (or said I was going to....!)

    You must have a premium package or else the Sky+ costs extra per month.

    The €15 is for mirror sub. If you have only FTA (+FTV Sky3) on the the ordinary Sky box then you save 15 per month and don't need a phone line on it.

    You are supposed to have phone line on Sky+ but if you don't have a mirror sub (MUST have all boxes on mirror sub on phone) then you can disconnect phone entirely.

    If you don't have premium Sky package, (even just FTA) you get charged monthly just to be able to record on Sky+.

    So its the sub, +multi 15, and Sky+15.

    So if I reduced to 2 packages (21.50) i would just pay 36.50 pm. And just have 2nd box for free channels. Sure that would be grand, couldnt I do the 501 trick on spare box so Id be able to record (VHS!) UTV and all BBCs. That wouldnt be too bad. Would they charge then for moving the box? Or if its a local installer I could come to some arrangement with him.

    That or else have 2 sports channels, then its 50.50 pm. Dont really want sport. Oh, today they told me its €149 for the box/installation. Hmm, might wait, there'll surely be more offers.

    Wonder if I cancelled for a while?

    No it dosn't entitle you to an upgrade, but if you did get Sky + you would not have to pay the €15 per month for the service since if you have 2 or more premium channels this charge is waived. You would have to pay the initial cost of the box and installation charge though.

    This completely contradicts what a Sky Rep in the local shopping center (Pavilions, Swords) told me.

    The said that it costs 199 to install and an extra 15 p/m regardles of current package - I have the full package at the moment. Are they talking s***e ?!

    If you just have Sky+ then the 15 p/m is definitely waived if you have 2 or more premium channels. However maybe they were quoting you for multiroom (i.e. Sky+ box plus your origianl box relocated to another room) in this case there is an additonal 15 p/m charge for the card for the second box with the same package as you have on your original card (although there have been rumours that this charge will be reduced to 5.99 p/m)
