Ok then, I tried out this Speccie platform game called booty recommend by Logie. Story is that You are a crew boy on a pirate ship and you got to collect treasure using door keys lying around while avoiding the pirates.
Not bad for 1984 although the tune was particularly weedy - think of the pc speaker going off. :)

I lasted as far as level 1 !!!! Well, I made it to the 2nd last key (number 5) but the pirate on that last floor stopped me 3 times. You got to time opening the door I think.

Here some screenshots. The first one is the main title and the other is the first that I got stuck on. Oops. :)

Glad you decided to give it a try! Like most games of the era it requires Zen like patience as you get sent back to the starting level when you die. Believe it or not I finished this game on a saturday morning many years ago...

Actually I think a refreshing way to go through the spectrum collection - is to try by genre. :D

I had a big trawl through all the chess games on the speccie. Quite a few actually! The C64 featured even a bigger number (going by the Gamebase database) and the Amiga (I was shocked to hear the chess engine in BattleChess was rated pretty bad by the International Chess Federation. Graphics vs algorithm memory space I guess).

Next Genre... (subset in this case) would be to try the Dizzy Collection.
