Just a quick question. Does this ATA require a PC to be present, or can it be configured to connect directly to a router?

    Thanks

ATAs are like routers. They do not need to be connected to a computer and will work when computers are off. That is the advantage to them. In answer, it will work as a stand alone box and you don't even need a computer to use it.
