Does anyone here know anything about Anam Cara? My brother and mother have started to immerse themselves in this 'philosophy' recently, and anything I find on the web on the topic is a little vague. Thanks in advance.

    I found a site: http://www.anamcaraacademy.org/default.html

I have also posed the question to the Bible Answerman at www.equip.org

Cheers Brian, I found that site too. Like I said, a little vague. Not that I think there's anything sinister in it, just looking for opinions really.

Hippo, does this seem to be a positive influence in their lives. I just looked at the site as well. I am curious.

Charis, I can't really say whether it's a positive thing or not. My brother is always kicking off on some new spiritual search every few years and this appears to be the latest one. If that sounds a little cynical then forgive me, but there seems to be a 'celtic' influence in the philosophy, something I'd be quite sceptical about (but then I am an atheist!) From what I can work out it incorporates some celtic influence with fairly standard Catholic thinking. they've certainly embraced some of the concepts quite enthusiastically; however it's too early to say it's definitely a positive or negative development.

Spirituality is probably a better forum to ask in. From what I know Anam Cara is more "Celtic" than Catholic, if you know what I mean?
