Well for a start it is responsible for a lot of poor text style spelling.

We would make concrete plans and stick to them, we wouldnt ring exes in the middle of the night after a session and we would actually call to peoples houses if we wanted to talk to them

Pretty flimsy thread, but- study has me online alot, I have an unlimited package so most of my correspondence to friends and family would be by email mostly but I text online too.

To be honest, most people with pc's at work or at home would do the same - I think..

I just got a cell phone for Christmas; haven't ever had one before. It does make life a bit more convenient - being able to stay in contact with friends and family instead of always having to rush to a pay phone or borrow someone else's phone. Makes me feel more independent, or something.

I'm glad I have one. Life without it isn't un-bearable, but it is easier with one.

some of your words were in txt speak. (Like Fone)

Anyways back to the point, if i didnt have a mobile phone, id have to use a landline.
I hardly text, all my contacts with people are done via calls.

And I mean what I say..... Texting is responsible for a lot of poor spelling. The fact that you used fone instead of phone & wat instead of what is only backing up my case. I'm not making a personal attack on you as a person.

For one thing, people would actually talk to each other and social skills would become important again.

I did that! I did that! Let me tell you, life was far less annoying, and I don't even own a bloody mobile!

P.I. would have about half as many threads from the lack of "Should I txt her back?!!!!" and "He's/Is he ignoring my txts!/?" threads. You shut the hell up and speak to them the next day, people! I'm calm. I'm calm.

It was really a case of making plans in advance and realising that people were not always contactable. Leaving the phone number of the restaurant with the baby sitter, realising that when someone is late that they are probably stuck in traffic, having to leave more messages etc.

Mind you from a work perspective there were pagers around for a few years prior to mobile phones. And two way car radios were available before that.

Well personally I wouldn't mind if we returned to a world where there were no mobile phones? I would probably feel a bit out of touch if I got rid of mine now and everyone else kept theirs but a world where they didn't exist would be good!

Its not necessarily a positive being contactable 24/7. Having said that they are useful in emergencies!

This I would agree with. There is an awful lot of crossed wires over texts and computers. If you cant see a face, or hear a tone of voice, its bound to lead to confusion.
Alot of people don't express themselves correctly via txt / email / discussion board

we would have more money in our pockets.

People wouldnt be changing their god damn number every 3 weeks

we might be able to find a wall socket in the house that didnt have somebody's bloody mobile phone charger stuck in it. "don't plug that out, Im charging my phone"

Yes what you said is true .But there are some people who would find it hard to say somethings out in the open at times .They would find it easy to text are talk on line . But at the same time i agree with what you have to say it would be better to talk face to face more.
