New generation Raptor, double the capacity of the previous drive, 16MB cache and native SATA + NCQ, who's getting one. or two?

Think i'll have to drop down and get myself two and RAID them :D

Time to sell my 74GB Raptors!!

I'm after a new HDD myself as I'm fed up with my IDE 7,200 rpm - 10,000 rpm HDD's are sweet but I can't bring myself to part with €170 on komplett for a 74gb Raptor - bit of a rip off IMO, €120 would be more reasonable considering it's only 74gb.

You won't find a second hand Raptor under €140 here, they rarely come up for sale.

    Seagate Cheetah 10K.7, 146GB, 80 pin Ultra320, 10K rpm, 8MB cache -- €535.00
So compared to SCSI, the Raptors are good value :p

    Well,
    1. It's SCSI.
    2. It's probably meant for servers

Hey, and let's not forget the SCSI controller card (from UK, didn't see any on Komplett).
    So, to sum up:
    • Harddrive: €535
    • Controller card: €75 and a spare PCI slot
    • Shipping: ~€40 from 2 sites
    • Realising you are a tool who should've waited for that SATA drive to come back in stock: Priceless
    Here endeth the lesson.
