Set-up for FTA channels @ 28E, 19E & 13E

What would be the best / cheapest set-up for receiving FTA channels from 28E (Astra 2), 19E (Astra 1) & 13E (Hotbird)? Is a single fixed dish with 3 LNBs feasible? Or would you go for a 60cm dish for 28E & a larger dish with 2 LNBs for 19E & 13E? Or would a motorised system be better?

We'd also like to be able to watch 2 different channels simultaneously in the living room and one other room. By this I mean ideally 2 different channels from any of the 3 satellites, but at least 2 different channels from the same satellite, as I guess if you had a motorised system you would be limited to the same satellite.

About how much would such a set-up cost, including installation? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

an 80cm dish with 3 lnbs will work for you but for very channel you want to watch you need a separate satellite receiver.

    1) An 80cm dish with 3 x dual LNBs and 2 x four way Disqec switch and two FTA receivers.

About 600 Euro maybe. Maybe a quad for the Sky 28E so a PVR can be added later.

Either receiver can watch anything instantly.

2)An 80cm motorised dish with dual LNB

About 500 Euro maybe. As you suggest, both receivers can watch any channel on the same satellite. Only one receiver can change the satellite. The other receiver/user has no way of knowing which satellite to select without checking the master box.

    3) Add 250 Euro to (2) and have two motorised dishes on a single pole.

The motorised system gives about 20 satellites.

I'm including install which is signifcantly more work than a single LNB fixed system

    Thanks for the quick replies.

With the fixed dish / 3 LNBs option, is an 80cm dish big enough? I know it would be fine for each of those satellites on their own, but would you not need a significantly bigger dish (> 1.0m) with the 3 LNBs, because presumably at least 2 of the 3 satellites would be "offset"?

Watty dont you mean twin output lnb's, dual is H one one port and V on the other.

80cm is fine for this just use good quality lnb's and good quality 3 way diseq switch

    yes of course.

    Twin
I always mix them up. Duals are obsolete too as that kind of application needs a Quattro now.

Sky works on a 65cm dish so even with it the most offset from arm with an 80cm dish the signal is still a lot more than on Sky Mini Dish. If it raining hard enough to block it you need a lifejacket and flares.

The Hotbird is hardly offset off the arm at all. I see very little difference compared with the 80cm motorised dish.
