This PSU at Peats looks like quite the bargain, at €109 inc vat. I'm thinking of getting it - any reason why not?

FYI it'll be powering the following:

    Abit AN8 board
    Athlon 64 3200+ s939 (venice)
    2gb PC3200 RAM (256*2+512+1gb)
    3 IDE HDD's, 1 SATA HDD
    1 DVD-RW
    1 CD-RW (mightn't bother with this though)
    nVidia 6800GT PCI-E
    PCI tv card
    couple of USB devices

    That's about it.

Edit: I've seen in another thread that PC World have this or a similar Hiper 580W PSU for 99 euros, but there's no PC world near me so postage from peats seems fair enough (even though they do charge 14 euros for delivery).

Hipers are ok. known to be flakey at full load though.

Go to www.custompc.co.uk, have a look at CPUs under the labs section.

There are reviews for 29 psu's.

Overall they and other sites such as toms hardware recommend seasonic drives.

You can buy them off komplett.ie

I seen on other forums that the Hiper 580W failed somepeople after just a couple of months. I think six people on the same forum had to replace their new Hipers. I've got a Seasonic 600W. It's one of the best PSUs around and I'd recommend it.

I put a Hiper in my dads PC and its grand cause he wont be overclocking, but if you are overclocking get a tagan or a seasonic or anything other than the hiper, they seem good, but you are paying for the "bling" and a site reviewed one and the soldering was unreliable, I would go for something a bit better and if you want one with "bling" go for this

I've heard good things about about that particular Hiper PSU, An excellent video review can be found here

You could always get the OCZ Modstream 520w which I've got and am very happy with :D

I have one myself and I'm more than happy with it, but then I could be accused of being biased, but I have nothing other than negative feelings for the company I work for, so you can take my opinion as being unbiased!

i think i read somewhere that pc world will send you stuff if you ring and order for about 10 euro, could be worth checking out.

Also it's a little cheaper from pixmania (if you're willing to risk their customer service)
