Hey im getting me a new bass soon and i was thinking now of going down te E-Bay second hand route.

The only things really concerning me really is:

1:will i be caught for import duty? i mean if someone has already payed there tax on it cause they baught it in america or wherever theres no point for more tax is there?

2: Paypal, what is the story with paypal, how does it workand does it guarentee the credit card doesnt get ripped off?

ye paypal is safe. u need to register on there website. they get the other persons information,so if they do anything wrong they dont get away with it.
    I think thats what happens

PayPal is completely safe. It is very much on the buyer's side in disputes too. I've been using it for a long time with no hassle.

As for import duty, if what you buy is being shipped from outside the EU you more than likely will be stung (unless it's something small like CDs) for import duty. However if you buy anything from inside the EU (no matter where it's origins) you won't have to pay an import duty.

My understanding is that pay pal is guaranteed up to $500 only.

i mean if someone has already payed there tax on it cause they baught it in america or wherever theres no point for more tax is there
Yep, that's right - no point whatsoever. BWHAAHAAHAAHAAAHAAAHAA

Ive bought stuff from the states (cymbals and some other drums stuff) and not been hit with any tax yet. But have heard some stories. People say to get the seller to write gift on the box.
Paypal is fine, Never had a problem with it. I had a problem with one item and they were very helpful. The item showed up eventually so didnt go as far as it could but they still helped along the way.

One thing about buying a big item is check the postage and packing before you buy....can be expensive. Ive paid about $40 on a cymbal that cost $160 so id say a bass could cost a bit.
    happy hunting
