If you have the RAM and a decent HD already (and I'm sure you have other stuff like a monitor and speaker and CPU etc :p ), you could just buy the components you do need, like a PCIe motherboard and graphics card, then do the old switcheroo!
All available for cheap enough, on www.komplett.ie

Nope! Think Dell are fans of integrated graphics...they have great deals tho...

Not that I buy from them....I use Komplett too...I upgraded my motherboard lately - its AGP and I needed to upgrade the processor and memory too as the stuff I had was incompatible with the new motherboard. My mate just got a PCIe motherboard...and he had to replace everything....processor, memory and even the power supply box!

There are good package deals on Komplett where you can buy everything you need for the upgrade as a package. But check out what components you currently have first - if they are fairly recent then they may work with a new motherboard.

This is slightly off topic but the other day i had to fit a 6600 into a 2 year old Dell, so i got a agp 6600 off the shelf and started to fit it and realised the slot was too long?? So i looked at it and it was PCI- Express:eek:  on a 2 year old Dell???

So i fitted a PCI-Express card and it worked, I asked the customer was it sent back for repair, ( i thought dell might have fitted a new mobo with PCI-Express)

But it wasnt?? there was talks of PCI-Express 2 years ago but no cards were made until a few months ago, has anyone else came across this:confused:

Anyway ballboy, post your spec because there might not be a motherboard that will take a PCI-Expree card and you CPU if its old

    It was Dell-Improving gnomes.

They're like car-key gnomes, except they sneak into your Dell machine at night and upgrade it with the latest gear.
