    I'm suprised this hasn't been done yet. Whats your poker goals for the new year?

    Mine are as follows:

    Win 4 figures in an MTT
    Learn the cash game, and be a winning .50/1 player by years end
    Win a 20 + 2 180 player SNG on stars
    Start Multitabling
    Work on my headsup play
    Qualify for the WSOP, so that i can play, dress and act like a complete donkey whenever there's a camera around:D

    1. win a pub tournament.... its gonna be tough to do though!!!
    2. obviously qualify for the WSOP, although given that i cant afford to play in the super satalite this will take a miracle, anyone wanna bankroll me?
    3. like yourself... improve my cash game play... i lack what they call "patience" and after a while 7-5 of diamonds looks better than it is.
    4. stop telling people that 7-5 of diamonds is my favourite hand and it never loses!
    5. THIS IS MY ULTIMATE POKER GOAL: get dealt KK preflop and put it down because I've correctly put an opponent on AA...

    1). Be 4-tabling 3/6 or 5/10 permanently by the end of the year.
    2). Make at least €100,000, or if I can make it to the higher levels in 6 months at least €200,000.

    Give up the game.

    But I want to play in Citywest first. :o

    * Quit smoking
    * Lose two stone
    * Get through college with a 1:1
    * Play more chess
    * Play more football
    * Play less poker

    I would like to end 2006 as a better player than I am now. How much money I win and how it is won is not a concern of mine, only that I am constantly improving.

    I did that once in a cash game. The other guy had aces. Trust me, if it ever happens you won't think to yourself "wow I've just acheived one of my poker goals", you'll think "fúck, I hate having to lay down big hands preflop"

    My only one is to quit online poker. Its working at the moment, cashed out my bankroll for all my sites and left 2 bucks in so I can only play the brillant 10 cent stt's on ppp now!
    Reasons for this was, it was taking up too much of my time and effort. So since i wasnt fully commited, i feel whats the point.

    To win a big tournament like the fitz end of month.
    To improve all aspects of my game.
    To become a better all-round player.
    To qualify for a WPT/EPT/WSOP event.
    And to be multi-tabling at 2-4 by next october.
    And to get through this college year without letting poker affect my studies.

    Play less poker this year and tend to more important aspects of my life. And stay off ciagrettes.

    for a poker forum there's a surprising amount of posts about "playing less poker". :eek:
    mine is to play MORE online sng's (hopefully 750-1000 per month)
    and to make at least 6 figures by year end.

    Increase bankroll, move up limits.

    it is my only source of income and has been for exactly a year (gave up my last job Jan '05)

    i play 4 sngs at a time and play 3 sessions a day with about 8-10 in each session. i average 27 a day....so 27X31=837 a month. i usually dont hit a 1000 but i aim for at least 750 (or at least i am since the new year). its not that hard - its only 4-6 hours a day. easy if you don't have a real job.

    i don't play cash games....only sng's...i think it suits my game better. haven't played a cash game in over a year believe it or not. i probably suck at them, but i think i'll presume i'm amazing at them and never play them....that sounds better:D

    3. Take more exercise
    4. Get out fishing more..

    i did but not any more. its tough at times as i'm sure many of the other "pros" here will atest to. beats the hell out of sitting in a crappy office all day like my last job tho.
    05' was pretty good. i didn't make 6 figures but i made more than the average person working a 40-hr week did. i really think/hope 2006 will be much better tho for several reasons:

    1. i'm much better now than i was when i first started full time last january.
    experience, many hours of play/reading/watching poker all add up, ability to rarely tilt, etc.
    2. i was only multitabling (4 tables at once) since october so i was making much less than i could have been.
    3. when i say full time since last january, its true that it was my sole source of income (apart from some very temporary meagre social welfare) but i was also finishing my final exams in ucd until june...so i wasn't able to put in as many hours.
    4. i was playing at lower limits than i do now. i was playing the 33 and 55's on empire (now on party) wheras now i play the 109's and will be moving to the 215's very shortly.
    5. at the start i was very underbankrolled, but thanks to some early good runs and becoming more knowledgeable about the importance of proper bankroll management, my ignorance wasn't punished, thankfully.

    we'll see what 2006 brings.

    1. Play more cash games and record every hand using software etc. Bit lax on that.
    2. WSOP
    3. Strangle publisher of Poker Player Ireland for crediting an article of mine to Tom.

    1) To crush my poker enemies, to see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
    2) It will not be enough that I suceed, everone else must fail.
    3) Stop quoting Ghengis Khan so much.
    4) Start playing live cash games with some of you fine gents in the fine card clubs of Dublin
    5) Run KK into AA all in preflop like I just did when typing number 4) a minute ago less often

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,506 ✭✭✭Shortstack

    1) I seem to have become a calling station since the new year so I am going to stop now.
    2) I need to beat Tom at the citywest
    3) I want to be a tree

    Happy xmas and new year everyone, Ive been a bit distracted by the real world over the last few weeks (Births deaths etc) so havent been online much. Oscar Im sorry I didnt make the money in galway but my 93o ran into JQs. My goals are;

    1 Play more (seriously)
    2 Play for several hours a day without making a single mistake
    3 make so much money I dont know what to do with it

    a friend of mine recommended it to me, and i have to say thus far I think he is right. There appears to be a lot less craps merchants playing the low level sngs. Also the 2+.50 mtt tourneys is good craic i think its nightly..

    Also it doesnt have the apparant software problems that PPP seems to have, however I could be proved wrong on this account

    Ladbrokes is decent - best thing being the swipe card to lodge and withdraw in shops and also good for phonebetting. You shouldnt be playing tournaments with a 25% reg fee though

    Ahhh new year resolutions...

    Who needs 'em?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,079 ✭✭✭smurph

    (1) To lose 3 stone (3llbs would be a good start)

    (2) To stop being a calling station and actual believe people when they bet, that they have hit the flop.

    (3) To ban myself completely from playing when drunk (especially online poker). why do you always have a cunning plan that you can win at poker when buckled.

    (4) To make use of my Christmas pressie (fold away texas holdem poker table) by having home games in the house

    (5) To be more patient in the big games, instead of getting bored and then deciding that 9, 10 Clubs are the best cards in the world and going mental with them.

    (6) Try to work on my poker face (watch the film awakenings a million times and get the serious look)

    Have more and more fun........... and worry less about stupid things.
