Sky By Broadband painfully slow

    Hi I have been trying to download a movie over Sky By Broadband and it is painfully slow :mad: . I have a 1 Mb broadband connection and am using a wireless router at home. The movie (The Day After Tomorrow) is about 650Mb and after about 8 hours it has only downloaded 10%. I have no problems downloading other files over the internet, for example the install for Sky By Broadband downloaded in about 5 mins and was about 45Mb.

    While it is downloading if I check my Network Utilization in task manager it is showing only a vary small percentage utilization (<1%).

    Is anyone else experiencing this and if so has anyone figured out a way of getting it to download faster?

    If I check the error.log file in C:\Program Files\KService\data there are a lot of errors reported, I understand Sky By Broadband uses KService could this be the problem?

    What errors are you getting?
    What ISP are you using?

    Same here, started i-Robot last night at about 8pm, and so far only 37% done. Have a 1MB DSL line at home.

    i only have access to the Sky Sports section and the download speed can be very fast and also very slow. typically i can download at 300 - 400 kb/s so it is the Sky service. it is also telling me i am not on the internet after it checks my password :rolleyes: maybe a better version of the software will be released soon

    I don't get any errors in the SkyByBroadband application itself, the only errors I see are in the KService error.log file, here are some examples:

    [774]L2 [Jan 03 13:33:58] PEER ZPeerLoader::run zbbp loader exit:ZPEER_PEERUNAVAIL, moid=7374ca55-95a nodeid=9SmUBa5fNZyJ connectTime=0s totBytes=0 totTime=0s timeThrottled=0s b/w=0.00KB/s

    I guess the ZPEER_PEERUNAVAIL errors imply that the problem is with the Sky site, as others have suggested it is probably overlaoded.

    It was bittrely slow for me last night and a lot of people on digital spy were complaining about the same thing. Someone on that forum brought up the issue that they thought the service is actually p2p. They read it somewhere in the terms and conditions that basically sky only upload one copy of every movie and after that users are downoading from each other without even knowing it. does anyone else tink that the quality of the picture is pretty poor. For a file that is the size of a full quality divx file, the quailty is that of a 250 mb dix movie.

    I think the wole concept is daft and I expect Sky will junk it in favour of being able to transfer from files on a Sky+ box to PC.

    1/2 the sapce on the new Sky+ boxes is reserved for "backgorund" satellite download.

    Especially when they realise the real availablity of BB in Ireland.
