    Hi Guys
This came up before, But I can't find the thread.
How to connect a second tv set to a Comag sl55 (Lidl). It was mentioned (Tony, I think) that the connections at the rear were mis-labelled. There is a spare "F" connector and a "normal" coax connector. When I hook up to one I get nada, the other gives the message "LNB short"
    Any bells ringing??
Also, Saw on another site (directed by someone on boards), that specialised in Comag that firmware upgrade made a huge difference, but no one would answer the question...Exactly what was the difference?
    Regards
    t

My SL55 has 2 F connections at the back, one is a loop through for feeding an Analogue system, the other is for connecting to the LNB. Theres no RF out on the version I have.

Can you confirm.....You mean the 2nd F is an input from an analogue satellite receiver.
    Ah! bugger, Bogger

    Thanks

second F is an pass through for feeding an analogue system

Scart only connection to TV on mine

when you update the firmware, you may get an option on the menu for RF modulator settings, but its only there cos there's a clone of the SL55 that has an RF modulator fitted.

    //edited to say clone

Also to use the 2nd F connector the "slave" receiver must have a true standby (it works with any Digital receiver too except the Sky series).

One or other of the two receivers MUST be in standby otherwise there can be a conflic on the 22KHz tone signal or the V/H polarity.

The Sky boxes have NO standby, they just cut power to modulator and mute the A/V connectors, everything else inc LNB power etc is running 100%. So that SW upgrades work when it is so called "Standby".

I had two OTA (from 19E) SW upgrades and did one via PC Serial cable from Internet download on my Palcom DSL4 (from www.satellite.ie). It is a very similar box to the Comag series. One SW upgrade added teletext navigateion on a page (click on a link kind of thing) and one was supposed to fix a time/date setting from channels issue (it didn't some channels mess the clock if you try to set a scheduled recording while on them).

Not a huge difference from unmodified models.

    Hi Watty,
I'll say no more than, non offical firmware. The one I have installed atm has added Zoom, improved the EPG.

The only improvements I'm interested in are Reading Sky EPG and supporting whatever non-Sky interactive BBC/ITV come up with to be able to read the text. More exotic interactive is a waste of time. I want it to watch TV. I have Internet and PC for "interactive"

I use a $ky box with FTV card for asta2/eurobird, and comag sl55 for astra1/hotbird, with a link to qaud sky lnb for astra2 cos I had a spare point on a disqec switch.
