Pride has the better fights on paper and the shows don't live up to the hype, while UFC the shows might not look as good on paper but exceed expectations usually.

And all the my faves are in UFC (GSP, Hughes, Franklin, Couture, Liddell, Arlovski, Babalu).

I like both equally. Pride does have better cards and better production value but the UFC has alot of things going for it like TUF which gives me my weekly feed of MMA.

I think he UFC does a better job of humanising the fighters and making them really accessible. For example, bot only do i respect them as fighters, but after TUF, i also like Liddell, Couture, Huges and Franklin as people.

Pride at times does seem to have a more exciting stable of talent though, until you watch some low card UFC match that blows you away.

I also think that UFC can hold more suprises than Pride and has more room to grow as a product.

I have always like the image and tactical nature of fighting in the Octagon as well.

All in all, both have the merits.

At the end of the day though, k-1 will always have a special place in my heart. Viva Jerome Le Banner!

I prefer Pride due to the higher calibre fighters.
Also whilst in Spain i got my hands on a lot more Pride comps than UFC, and I know a lot more about the Pride fighters.. So maybe im biast :)

I like both but I like PRIDE a little more. I wish UFC would stop being so cheap and pay the fighters more already. 2k/2k to fight on a PPV is horrible.

    JohnMc1 is rite,

Pride FC is numner one, its hard to argue against. E.g. the bushido tournament. This could well have taken place in ufc ( considering the LW the UFC had ) but IMO this is the best tournie/event i have ever seen. I dont get excited about UFC events half as much as i do PRIDE. Think Shogun, Fedor, Gomi, Crocop, Nog, Rampage ( this guy is so ****in funny commentating, me and kev are always pissin ourselfs watchin the fedor fujitsa fight ).

Im not a pride nut hugger. But the best are in PRIDE, except for the WW.
GSP, Sherk, BJ, Hughes etc.. make highly entertaining fights (apart from being top tier world class fighters). I love watchin PRIDE also cause of the MASSIVE audience and BAZ, but allas, he is gone. Such a pity. Arlovski is untested at the mo, i would love him to take on a well conditioned, trained Ricco, and win, to give the UFC HW champ some cred.

All the sherdoggers would agree that AA goin to PRIDE would be amazin. I think he should do it, for his carerr, and for him as a person, to test himself, think of the matches!!!!

Chuck is a beast, but how would he fair nowadays against arona, wandy, shogun, rampage, mini nog ( ****in savage boxer!!! ). Its had to say he would do well against them all, and also hard to diss him!!.

Its just the ufc seems to USA!!! to me, its a pity. I am an mma fan and love good mma matches such as Diaz/Sanches (what a war that was), but all in all PRIDE is the top dog. If UFC paid more (Frankilin gets 35000!! that sucks for a pro like him) and they get a suply of top notch (top 5 fighters) in every divison) like they once were, then i will consider them equal.

I love both, i get to watch UFC on bravo, but the pride shows (excluding recent outings) are better. The nest UFC looks amazin though.

Gotta go with Pride - better fighters (with a few exceptions) and much better rules and judging criteria.

the following is an article from mmaweekly.com and is another reason why pride is no1:

DSE/ Pride has made the GP tournament style popular these days and plans on expanding it this year. Sakakibara announced last weekend that Pride was looking at having their GP series in the months of May, July, and September this year. And, that this tournament was possibly going to be the Heavyweight GP. But, what was most interesting was the fact that Pride is looking into holding a No Weight Limit GP, from welterweights all the way up to the heavyweights. And, that Pride was possibly looking at holding this event in November.

Since then Pride has confirmed on their website that Osaka will be the location for the first round of the GP this year on May 5th. But that it isn't known whether this will be for the Heavyweight GP or for the No Weight Limit GP.

Hearkening back to the early UFC days of the no weight limit style tourneys, this conjures up limitless match-ups. Who will be invited? Who will fight who?

Sakakibara also mentioned that they would probably start the Bushido series in April and have those events on the even months till October. Since then, Pride's website has announced that they will start either the Lightweight or Welterweight Bushido GP in June.

As far as the next Pride show goes- Pride 31. That will be on February 26th. Pride's website mentions that they would like to have Rodrigo Nogueira, 'Shogun' Rua, 'Rampage' Jackson, and any heavyweights who did well on the 12/31 show to be on the card. It was also mentioned that Yoshida wanted to take a break.

Men and motors showed pride at 12 on wednesays a while back, i dont know if they still do. They were showing pretty recent fights too, saw Natsula vs Nog a while back, that was pretty recent.

The Pride is so much better than the UFC. Way better fighters, way better rules, way better fans, way better pay, way better production.

By the way I wouldn't judge pride or K-1 by there new years eve shows which were disapointing. THe prelim rounds of those tourney fights were the two best MMA events I have ever seen (obviously next to ROT)

    Peace

Anyone that thinks the UFC is better then Pride is lost
Pride is so so much better. The UFC has its good points
also but Pride is just at the top of the three as far as
mma goes. Id like to see some UFC vs Pride fights but
will that ever happen who knows. Also no mention of
K-1....every bit as good as the UFC.

If you are referring to K-1's MMA show, you must be joking. It's usually the worst MMA card of the year, every year. Last years NYE card was ok at best - The only decent card they had was the prelims up to it.. But in all, their cards are dismal.
