Where to buy / find a long Velcro Strap?

Was gonna put this in 'Wanted General' (mods, feel free to move if you wish) but not exactly a standard request and something that people would typically be looking to sell.

Long story short: have a 20" inch TV sitting on a bracket designed for a 14" TV and i'm a bit iffy about the TV being a bit topheavy and if it's tipped / moved slightly forward, it will fall to the floor very easily.

I was in a Pound Shop somewhere recently and saw the exact same setup there with a Velcro Strap securing the back of the TV to the base of the bracket. Velcro Strap wasn't for sale though..! :D

Anyone have any idea where to get one? I've no idea where to even start to look.

I know that you said that you tried the Pound Shop so I don't know if you meant this place but I got it in a Euro General shop recently. €2 for a strip that was 20mm x 50 cm. Hope thats of some use.:)

    Cheers for that...

... will have another look around Sligo's many Pound (or €2!) Shops tomorrow so.

    Try Hickeys.

Not sure how long the produce them thou. They are producers as well as retailers so they be able to order them to your specs.

you can get velcro in material shops too like hickeys and that they sell it on a reel and you can pick how much you need

Loads of Hardware shops provide velcro on a reel, B & Q, Atlantic and Homebase to mention a few, the usual colours are black and white, occasionally you can get it in other colours !:D

Believe me, the bracket is well secured into an outside wall (solid concrete). Took me an hour to drill the damn thing in a year or two back. I've no doubt in my mind it could hold a 28" TV if required.

It's the base that's the problem!

Will have a look around this afternoon so and let you know my findings (if any).

Thanks again all.. might ring up the Homebase in Sligo to ask if they've any.

OK... my secret's out, i just love the wall it feels against my skin!

On a sidenote.. found nothing in a frantic search of Sligo stores this afternoon. Found a very small velcro strap - found straps for tying together suitcases which i thought might do the job but they've rainbow coloured and a complete eyesore!

So.. has anyone any spare to sell to me? Or if anyone spots one in their local € shop or something.. could they pick and up and i'll glady reimburse them (with a little extra for their trouble if required).

Cheers but don't think i'll be leaving Sligo in the next few weeks to be able to get some and really need the TV up on the bracket soon.

Been using my laptop on a TV tray for the last week or two as my desk is occupied with the TV! :D

ok sorry very OT but i read 'Long Velcro Strap-On'

might not be strong enough but try hickeys or some other sewing store
[i know theres a word just cant think of it...] they usually sell velcro in rolls

Yeah.. if i had a more definitive word (or brand name) rather than "Long Velcro Strap" (as most workers in the stores here in Sligo seem to dumbfounded by the concept... DUH!)

Have ya looked at the idea of securing a board the same size as the telly to the base on the stand? Could give a more permanent solution to your problem.

You'd probably be better off with a luggage strap, or a ratchet strap, available from any luggage shop or motor factors (respectively). Oterhwise, if there's a Woodies in your area, they usually sell velcro in long strips..

Hi, I also need to find some of this? Velcro straps for peoples heads and arms. Also anyone know where I can get coloured arm bands? Like for school soccer teams and stuff like that. Thanks in advance

    Op,
any arts and crafts shops sell velcro :)

Its often used with clothes, so any where you can get materials you can get velcro.
