    Hi

Been nerding up on satellite stuff but have question(s) that I hope some of the guru's here will be able to answer :)

I want to hit hotbird, astra and hopefully eutelsat too. I would also like to run two receivers from the dishes.

The only way I can see on doing this is with a 3 lnb holder on the feed arm and 3 twin output universal LNB.

Can all three be received on an 80-100cm dish (static) and would this be very arkward to install? I have installed dish with single LNB before but very unclear on how to line up 2 or 3 lnb on same dish.

    All help much appreciated.

16 and 13 almost impossible with two lnbs as they are very close together, atra and hotbird is no problem. Use twin output lnbs for two receivers as you've already mentioned

    Cheers Tony.

So the only way to get all 3 is with motor or a second dish?

Also the elevation of HotBird and Astra are different. Google tells me that from Dublin hotbird is at 26.6 and Astra is at 24.7 Anything special need to be done on the dish elevation to get both?

    TIA

Well a motor is one way to go but then only one receiver can control it. What I usually do is set the hotbird lnb below centre on the bracket and line the dish up, then you slide the astra lnb along the bar for max signal.

there is lnbs and dishes specially designed for this purpose. there are lnbs with extremely narrow feedhorns that will allow you to physically fit the 3 on the one dish -- I was at a seminar 2 years ago with one of them featured - there was one dish with 8 lnbs across it! (absolutely gorgeous! all different colours!) but the only bitchin thing your gonna have is trade off - trading off signal quality across the 2 outer positions (astra + hotbird) but the one the photo which ill post tomorrow ( has this in mind and has a modified shape!)

This is true Andrew but I've not seen narrow lnb's with two outputs.

I used an LNB with plastic spike instead of feed horn for 16E (analog then) on this setup, between the Hotbird13E and Astra 19E LNBs

    http://homepage.eircom.net/~watty/satellite/sathowto-p6.htm

I moved the Hotbird LNB slightly sacrificing a bit of signal.

My friends 1.2m dish has a F/D such that the spaceing between LNBs is slightly more than twice as much. On it you can easily fit an LNB every 2.5 degrees.

Also with being larger you can probabily still get decent signal from 23E, 7E and 5E as well as 28E, 13E, 16E and 19E.

Only sensible if you want a separate receiver on each LNB.

Or you're an impatient bollox like myself - channel hopping on motorised isn't fun.

I currently receive 13e, 16e, 19e and 28e. The lnbs are single output ones at present. The dish is a torodial T90. The lnbs are not particular narrow.

    Hi guys

Was over at the supplier today and got some of the gear in. I went with a monoblock in the end (walk before you can run). However they did have a neat bit of kit over there: a Multi Block (feedholder for 4 LNBs). It would let you get 19.2E 13E 5E and 1W with one static dish. Might go for this on the next 'project'.

T90 seems very impressive but my budget wont stretch that far :o

    Thanks for all the input.

My Sat remote has 4 favorite buttons.
Since it is motorised, instead of suggested News, Sport, Music, Films etc it has

    Telstar Sky Astra Hotbird

:) Not fun going from Hispasat to Eurasiasat, but I believe 36V motors and actuators can be fast.

Some motors are a lot slower than the Motek. Also ones that are only LNB cable powered and for larger dishes have to be slower due to gearing.
