I was going to start a thread about this, but maybe somebody can tell me in here: How do so many complete donkeys qualify for the world series every year? Is it strength in numbers, the difference in times zones with when the satellites start, or something else? I'm genuinely intrigued by this. Why is it that Ireland has so many apparently good players who don't qualify, while America has scores of people who aren't that do?

Its definately strength in numbers i'd say.

stars sent 1200 or so, there were no terrible players at the tables I played at - there were players that werent quite up to the grade but they werent donkeys. 5pin5 was one of the Irish donkeys to qualify though.

Vegas is a long way to go for a tournament and I think a lot of the people werent too interested in pumping a lot of money into qualifying, a lot of Irish players did go over and players like KP qualified over there and others like ocallagh played some of the other events - it comes down to numbers with the sattelites, I would say 80% of the players are american and probably about the same % played the main event

If you win a ticket online, does it include flights and hotel?

Package includes expenses for flight and hotel. Usually we leave it up to the players to book themselves due to work commitments / timings, preference of accommodation.

Here is the info for the qualifiers we are running:

The World Series of Poker – Prize Package $12,500

The WSOP Freezeout Super Satellite will be held on Saturday, 28th January, at 9pm

Three ways to enter the Super Satellite:

    1. Buy in directly for $198 + $19.80
    2. Win a Single Table Tournament, Buy in $24.20 + $2.42
    3. Win a seat in a daily multi-table tournament @ 21:00; buy-in $3 + 15c

The WSOP Rebuy Super Satellites will be held on Saturdays from 14th January, at 11pm

Three ways to enter the Super Satellite:

    1. Buy in directly for $198 + $9.90

How many rebuy satellites are you running? And is this tribeca, or just PPP?

Also, how come the buyin is 10,200?

Hi Amaru.. Well spotted - typo there buyin $10k expenses $2.5k

There will be one rebuy satellite per week starting 14th Jan
and a freezeout GF every month. These tournaemnt will run on the entire network, we may decide to do one ourselves although I am not sure it is necessary as I think Tribeca have it covered.

They take a percentage of the prizepool plus another 3% for the dealers.

So do the top finishers tip....?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 680 ✭✭✭Amaru

Yeah, everybody who monies in the tournament is expected to tip. There's a couple of paragraphs in "positively fifth street" where he talks about this.

I don't tip when a tip has already been forced upon me.
