    You can try calling into the Passport Offices in either Dublin or Cork.
    The Passport Offices in Dublin and Cork are open from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. This is a 10 day service. They are closed at weekends but an emergency service is available outside office hours at the telephone numbers given here. An administrative fee is charged for this emergency service.

    I would visit in person. Sometimes they can be very understanding but make sure you have everything with you otherwise you will displease them. I certainly wouldn't post it at this stage.

    You can go in her place, you may need a letter from her stating you are obtaining it on her behalf. I needed one when I had my sister pick mine up last August. A rush job like yours, ten days and I had lost two passports so I was worried. Make sure you bring the tickets to show you need the passport really soon.

    Be prepared for a long wait and under no circumstances complain about it!

    I think she should go herself to be on the safe side.

    Bring the garda stamped form, the garda stamped photos, the out of date passport and her flight tickets/confirmation. You may have to pay extra. She's a bit lucky to be doing it this time of year, as if it was July she might be in trouble. It takes 10 working days by post so that's not an option

    They may at their discretion charge you an additional fee of 50 euro for an express service;

    You might be lucky. I had to get my passport within several working days last month, and I popped along to Moleworth Street (Dublin). I paid my €75 for a 10-year passport on the Friday, and I went back in to collect it on the Friday after that one.

    Ask when you're putting in the details when they can have it back. If it's too close, then pay the extra €50 for the express service.
