Deadly !!! what a great idea ! about time too....where can I get one !!
I'm a freak about tuning so a self tuning, self tempering guitar would be a god-send.

I wonder will it be picked up by the big name brands ??

feck if its good enough for Jimmy Page it's good enough for me !

that's been around for a good few years as a retro fit option!

Big with slide players who change tuning a lot!
Better than having to swap guitars...............:D

what would be the point in a self tuning guitar!!?! I have been playing guitar for long enough to be able to use my ears to tune a guitar. Theres no shortcuts and electronic wizardry to learning and developing a knowledge of music.

Say you're in E standard, the next song requires open G, you could ask everybody to shush while you play the tuning song for a few minutes to the audience or you could push a button and be in tune in a couple of seconds and get rocking quickly... which do you think would give the fans better value for money? :v:

That's not the point of it at all, its intended for players who use a lot of different tunings. From what I can gather you are able to change tunings at the touch of a button. The fact that it self tunes is secondary to that imo.

Also good for standard tuning guys.....either it's always on and you stay in tune, or tuning up between songs simply amounts to the press of a button.

The audience could care less about your 'ear'....they pay to hear well-done tunes.

Thats pretty cool, but the guy doing all the talking is kinda freaking me out. Maybe its the low quality of the video, but I just dont trust him!

cheaper to hire a tech to tune a guitar for you between each song!:D

WTF?? are u serious?? well for a start it would help anyone at the early stages of learning ..as you say yourself ''I have been playing long enough to be able to use your ears'' well thats good for you..how long did that take? 6 months or more like a few years???what about the guy who's been playin 2 weeks and cant tune to save his life?? hit the button and hey presto he's saved a half hour at least and can focus on playing his first Em chord :D thats just for starters..btw I dont know if being able to tune by ear is developing a knowledge of music ..its just the tip of the iceberg.you'd be better off having your guitar auto tune and learning scales in the meantime.

most of us either need a tuner or a reference note from music to tune up each time we pick up the guitar so that takes time and is a pain in the arse tbh. then if you playing along to your band mix cd (in my case) you've got your bands in standard tuning and then next thing a band like lizzy etc that play in Eb so then out comes the tuner again...(this is probably worse for metalheads who tune from B down to C or whatever:rolleyes: )unless u wanna transpose everything from one song to the next.

also as Doc J said when rehearsing or playing live ,u usually have to check your tuning every two songs or every song if you're soloing with lots of bends etc so it would save all that ...and make sure you at least start every song in tune...and added bonus if you hear a string going out of whack in the middle of a song then just hit the button on the fly...happy days !

Judging by the video it compensates intonation as well with each tuning which is class ..
Dunno if they can retrofit on guitars with a Trem system but if they did then I might pick one up again:D

And it would prob be handy for a singer as well to be able to say ''alright lads my voice is fecked tune down to Eb or D tonight !''

I'm sure I could think of more adavantages but i dont want to write an essay on it ! :D:D
