    Hello Classic Car Enthusiasts,

I moved to Dublin a few month ago and I brougt my 1970 250 CE with me. Right now she found shelter in a garage, but there is not enough space to work on her. Since space in Dublin is rare and expensive, I thought of the possibility to share a garage/warehouse with enthusiasts who have the same problem and maybe want to work on their cars aswell. I have a lot of experience in classic cars and brought all my tools from Germany.
If this idea already exists, I would be glad to join.

    So, what do you think?

    Benjamin

Yeah, I'm planning on getting into a classic this summer or next, and will need somewhere to restore the MGB roadster when I get it. Let me know how you go, somewhere central ideally.
Anyone got any idea of costs per month?

I have a purpose build car storage shed just off the N4 in Co Meath - about 25 miles from Dublin.

Garage is alarmed. 24 hr notice of pick up.

Cost will be 70euro per month.

    Door open March 1st.

...how big ist the garage? If you know the squaremeters that would help me a lot.

    Thanks,

PS: the attachments show my old garage in Germany

its 50ftx 25ft, with two separate spaces with an entrance each...

Ok, sounds plenty big enough, but is it for storage only? I was looking for somewhere to actually *do* the work, and so would need access pretty much all the time. Price sounds great though.

    thanks.

Its just for storage. Price is very competitive to get the business running.

    Hello All,

I am also looking for a space to tinker with the cars. I am in Malahide. How about we all start a syndicate and buy a plot of land and build the damn garage as we see fit!!! With drains and light and heating and a fridge and Pirelli posters and stuff?

Kyote, are you saying that you would not allow any mechaniking in your garages?

    Thanks

    Howaya lads,

I've a lead on a place over on the Southside of Dublin (close to the DART line) which would have room to store 3 to 4 cars with enough room for 2 to undergo some mechanical work at a time, along with space for a couple of chairs, tools, stereo and a fridge. I have first refusal on it and have until the end of the month to make up my mind.

I'd be interested in sharing this space with 3 others but I guess there would have to be some ground rules and we'd all preferably get on pretty well and have to provide some sort of assurance that each others cars would be left untouched, with NO spurious visitors coming along "just to have a gander".

We'd probably work this on the basis of each of us picking a preferred night and day (at the weekend) when we're guaranteed access to a 'work bay'. The rest of the time could be shared.

If you're interested, please PM me with your details including contact number, type of work you're doing (eg: Engine rebuild, full resto, bodywork, general tinkering etc.). Please note that costs will be approx. €150 per month plus 1/4 of the electricity bills. Everyone will have to cover a 3 month deposit as it's a commercial property and a curfew of 11pm will be enforced (according to my contact).

There won't be any onsite security apart from a locking shutter and common sense so I'm going to be very picky about who'll be invited to share this space - I'm sure everyone will understand.

    So, drop me a line,

    Gil

Sounds ideal, except for the price. Is there any room for negotiating on that? €600 per month for say a 600sq foot garage is a bit steep, no?

For €100 I would be game (pending looking at location)

    Hi Lads,

If I can get it without the space heater, additional power outlets (welder & compressor feed), and lighting it might cost a little less. But personally, I'd rather pay a little more to have some real creature comforts in there. Otherwise I'd be as well off just working from my domestic garage and keeping the cash for spares. Just my thoughts - Comments are of course welcome - It has to work for all who'd be interested.

    Gil
