What do I need to be able to receive channels on C Band. There is one @ 49e that shows a lot of premiership FTA.

I have a strong 6355 that according to some blurb on the next, can be used to receive C band tranmissions, do I need to change my LNB?

    Thanks,
    MJ

Its not just a case of your lnb - You will need a suitable C-band Dish - these are usually collosal in size - I did see ads on ebay sometimes for large mesh C band dishes and lnb's - could be looking at 3m, 4m etc. for decent reception of a C-Band signal! ---As regards 49E If your in Ireland I'd say we're probably to low on the horizon to recieve this signal! - I could be wrong though - I'm a westward man --I've recieved signals from as far as 45West to 33East -never anything interesting enough for me to track on the eastern side of the belt!

Thanks for that, guess 49e is out then! I do get good reception on 42e btw, but that is on Ku band.

There's no problem with the horizon in terms of receiving 49E in Ireland - we can get as far as 62East. A 2.4M is sufficient in size too, although not with much rain reserve.

Which channel is soccer shown on? I can check out how strong the signal is.

I get reception on 42E in Limerick, huge signal. I think there is one further east, but the house roof certinly is in the way.

Next door roof I think blocks 50W partially.

I'm going to compare 1.7m mesh and 3.4m mesh dish with C-Band LNBF unit in the next few weeks at a friends field.

    Hi Zaphod,
Football is on RTR Sport. Currently the Newcastle Middlesbrough game is on.

There seems to be a large variation in signal strength on each of the TPs.

    TV Lanka 2&3 3952, L, 1260 come in at 60% quality.

    RRSat 4115, L, 27500, 3/4 40%.

Jaya TV, Prime Sports, GTRK all have a picture lock.

But all the Russian stuff is much weaker. 3962, 3970, 3940 are picked up on a scan but about 10% quality and no hope of a lock. And as for RTR Planeta Sport on 3706 there's no signal whatsoever.

Swapped receivers and with a bit of tweaking, picture lock on RTR Promor'e and TVS_Severnya on 3940, L, 7500 at 24% and Dan Cinema, Blessing TV pm 3782, L, 8890, 26% but picture breaking up.

Some twitching on the signal level for RTR Sport. I reckon a dry day with clear skies and you could get a picture lock with quality of 20-25%.

i have a 1.8 fortec myself, and the guy in zintek said id be waisting my money buying a feed for it, to sell it and get an ofset channelmaster. Where did u get ur cm?

    CM was a private sale.

A 1.8M CM will undoubtedly outperform a 1.8M Fortec, but you are looking UK£500 for one. Don't know what prices are like for them in Ireland or if they can be sourced here. Compare with €110 for the Fortec in Maplin. You get what you pay for.

The Fortecs perform reasonably well if properly assembled and used with a prime feed. At the very least you should keep it for C-band and if you wish purchase the CM for Ku-band. Plenty of cheap C-band feesd in USA on ebay.com.

Well today was dry with clear skies here and RTR Promo'e was up to 35% quality from 25%. But still no lock on RTR Planeta Sport :(
