Well! Someone must be buying these because our TV screens have been swamped by sofa ads! So own up if you're one of the sofa-buying masses! Also, if so, was it as good a consumer experience as they make it seem in the ads?

Did you buy a sofa in the 2005 winter sales? 52 votes

There seems to be a sofa ad on at least every commercial break on Network 2 these days. Or am I just going mad?

    Slightly related topic...

There was a great couch gag in last nights new episode of the Simpsons. It involved sofas going on a zombie like rampage across Springfield.

The episode itself was weak though.

I HATE the Harvey Norman ad
Its the most annoying ad ever.. go harvey go harvey go!! Grrrrr

Harvey Norman's on TV now too? F*ck no....he was bad enough on the radio.

Reids and Land of Leather ads have to be the most annoying IMO, due to their sheer volume. It's like the ring tone ads though; someone somewhere must be buying em, otherwise they'd not be spending the money on all those ads...

I've only seen the HN on TV once or twice, but I was talking about the radio.. and as for the 'accent'.. I mute the radio as soon as it comes on in the car, I'd be likely to crash the thing before the ad ended otherwise

i've sat on over fifty sofas over the last week and was just about to purchase a three seater and a two seater because they (big generous shops in retail parks) told me that i was saving THOUSAND OF EUROS.
but i've just read a thread in the boards archives about people buying from both LAND OF LEATHER and REIDS who had some bad experiences with delays and bad customer service ect.
anyone bought from LAND OF LEATHER or REIDS and actually got their sofa on time.
or indeed recommend any other shop around Dublin?

Yes I bought a sofa last weekend! I've just bought an apartment too. Said sofa is to go inside said apartment. The January sales were a happy coincidence that will save me a tidy sum in the apartment fit-out.
