burning dvds

i got a dvd burner and it came with nero dvd burning software. i have some video files on pc already but i am having trouble burning them to dvd. the files are .avi and .vob. when i burn the avi's to dvd they are stored on it fine to work with computers but they will not work on any of my dvd players. same story with the vob's. is there any software that i can import the avi/vob files into that will convert them to the right format and then burn them..

Make sure you've chosen to burn a DVD-Video (As opposed to data DVD).
Copy all the .vob,etc. into VIDEO_TS ..

Not certain on .avi ,especially if they're DivX (I use WinAVI convertor + codecs installed)

AVIs will need to be converted.

The VOBs should work, but it sounds like you're burning them in data mode, use DVD-Video mode in Nero. Even then, I think you might need a .IFO file for them to work properly.

Not sure will it work for your problem exactly but DVD Decrypter is fantastic for backing up precious DVDs in case of accidents and other things

yeah i have the dvd decrypter but that made a .vob file and thats where i ahve trouble burning. when i try to add the vob file to the disc it says that because it is larger than 2gb i must use pfd to burn this... i have got dvd shrink now and that burns the discs grand but what do i do with the vobs i have already. with winavi i cannot see where you can add a second file to the disc... also when i burnt one episode to dvd it had logo of winavi across the top of the video for the whole thing..
