Vietnam visa..

I just downloaded the form from the embassys website - and it asked for proposed entry/exit dates.

Would it make any difference if we entered the country later than what went on the application/visa?

I would assume not - but in S.E. Asia, I know its better not to assume anything!

Whilst i'm at it, is it possible to get the Laos visa in advance of going over - and if so, how?

You can only enter and stay in Vietnam during the dates on the visa.

Eh...no. Sorry my fault - wasnt clear in what i was saying.

Basically, say i was to fill out the form with proposed dates like this:

    Entry - 1st Feb.
    Exit - 20th Feb.

What if i turn up at a border on the 2nd or the 5th. Within the time stated on the visa - but not on the specific start date of the visa/original proposed date of entry.

Would they have a problem with this?

    I will be in Thailand and Laos before hitting the Vietnam frontier. I might not hit the border on the proposed date of entry for two reasons;
    1. I want to keep my trip flexible ie. if I find myself somewhere thats worth spending the extra time on, then thats what i'll do.
    2. Theres nothing precise about overland travel in S.E.Asia :v:

There would be no problem with that at all. So long as you are between the dates all will be fine.

I travelled to Vietnam from Thailand last november. I got my Vietnam visa from a travel agent in Bangkok, it took 24 hours.

Yeah, was aware of this option but want to get this sort of stuff sorted before heading over - more time for fun. Less on red tape. :v: :v:

Looks like i will have to do Laos visa either at the border or bkk though..

We got the Laos one from aTAT office in Bangkok. They took the passports and shipped them up to us in Bangkok.

The Vietnam one is fine though, you can enter after the entry date once you still leave on or before the exit date you have entered.
