Can I take a passport photo my self on my digital camera and take it into the shop and get it developed. Would you recommend just going in and getting it done in one of them photo booths? Because I have to get it done for my Provisional License, Passport, Garda id and student card.

Last got mine updated before all of this digital jiggery pokery existed, but my parents just printed theirs out on some photo paper at home. Saves a few quid, and you can be sure that you are getting one that you like.

You can take your own digital photo/scan and clean it up in photoshop. Make sure you print it on glossy paper and cut it too the right size. No bothers.

In a recent survey nine out of ten cats could not tell the difference between an expensive pharmacy passport photo and a home photo printer printout.

It just has to be the right size and a good likeness of you, doesn't matter what type of paper its printed on or who by. I think that a lot of places that do the 'official' passport photos are using this fancy digital stuff now anyway, so how would they tell the difference?
