I have a (fairly old) Nokia with a Vodafone account. Can I send email from my phone?

I don't know. Give it to me here a second and I'll see... *yeesh*

    What model is the phone?

Don't know. It's kind of a bluey-grey thing with rubber around the edge so it bounces if you drop it and doesn't die if you drop it in water.

Is there some way I can get it to tell me what model it is, please?

Oh, oops, sorry, you were making me look like a fool?

I so admire people who can do that - it's so clever and funny.

Can you still do it by text message?

I remember you could write a text message and send it to a special number and it would do the emailing bit for you

I think you wrote the text in the form:
    "email jimmywhoever@something.com hello jimmy!"
and then sent it to some number which I forget. :\

"kind of a bluey-grey thing" doesnt give too much away.

The model number of the phone will be under the battery on a white sticker near where you place the sim in the phone, although if its the one i think it is then i think the only way to email will be via sms as described above.

I also have a uk number you can text your email to (How much is 51745 per text?)

OK, did that and got a message saying the email was sent. Haven't got the email yet, though (sent a test message to myself).

And is it the same if you're sending email abroad by this method, I wonder?

Sent it at five to nine; it's now 10.30 and no sign of the email arriving. Perhaps the service has been discontinued? But in that case why should I get a message on my phone saying the email had been sent?

    51745 still works.
It costs the same as an ordinary SMS

The phone sounds like a 5140 to be honest.... only phone that seems to fit the description.

As for email, you can do it through www.mail2web.com/wap via wap on your phone if you have a hotmail account. Otherwise you can use m.gmail.com from wap too.

And you can setup an mms and send it to an email addy too

    I tried 51745 (It's been a while ..:) ) -> still haven't received an email.
It could be a 3310 too, tbh... further help is silly unless the OP can help us help him.

I tried it and it didn't work, so I phoned 1907, where they were very nice, said I hadn't been set up for it but they'd done it now, so I should just turn my phone off and on again and try again.

So I did, and it didn't work.

Sent an email to customer support and got a reassuring autoresponse.

Oh, and I couldn't get the sim card out, but it's a 5210, it says under the battery.

Vodafone tech support got back to me, tested it out and said "obviously there's an issue here" (why does this phrase always remind me of the biblical story of Jesus and the woman with the issue....) and that they'd forward their own failed email messages upwards to supertech support and see what transpired, and get back to me again. Fair play to them.

if you go to the nokia website you can look at all their phones. also if you open the back and look under the battery there should be some stickers with barcodes and somewhere there'll it'll give the model
