I can't give out details, but if compensation was awarded at a courtcase for someone injured because of dangerous driving, how long does it usually take for an insurance company to pay out?

Assuming no appeal, usually within 4 weeks but 2 weeks is typical.

If an 'Order to Pay' has been issued, a 'reasonable time' tends to be 4 weeks but this can often vary. If your not hearing anything after 4 weeks get in touch with your solicitor, sometimes it takes additional letters from them to get things moving...
