Hats off to Leinster for today's fab performance, but it has to be said Munster won't go far in the HC with that backline....

    Ruggie

Make sure you get your hands on a copy of it (it may be replayed on Setanta??).

Was at the game, the atmosphere was fantastic, the place went off when Felipe scored the last try in injury time. . .ensuring Munster went home empty handed.

A great way to end 2005 (and start 2006!)

Don't be too happy Ruggie, we (Munster) never approached the high level of even poor, Munster we appalling for most of yesterday's game, and still had a chance to nick it at the end. Leinster's backs are great, probably only one or two non french clubs could say they have a stronger backs unit in Europe. Just one of those games where everything Contepomi touched was golden. Well done on a good win, a good win but not a great win.

Don't mind him Ruggie, it was a pretty good performance and Munster were the same as usual, only this time Leinster didn't roll over. Hope you got to see the tape. From an Ireland perspective though, ROG's form is becoming a serious concern...

dont kid yourself dave, munster were not that bad and they did attack the leinster line for sustained periods but failed to score due to excellent leinster defence.
Munster fans also seem to forget they were playing against 14 men for twenty minutes. Actually it was funny watching the 7 man leinster scrum put a full pack under pressure!

As for Contepomi i think munster fans should stop whinging about it. Usually everybody complains that leinster players and fans have no passion, well they showed alot more than munster did on saturday!

The fact that in the first 10 minutes Munster had the Leinster defence under massive pressure, and they failed to register a score, after which Leinster scored a ty on their first attack, was a massive boost to Leinster.

It was a great game, and credit to Munster, they were still there at the death except for a couple of knock-ons and a late try. The worst part was what I can only describe as some of the Muster fans' blatant bias. I applaud every score, and especially when playing against a fellow Irish province, it's good to see your internationals playing well, regardless of their province. But with a section of the Munster fan base, they find it very difficult to concede defeat or reality when they lose. I was at Leinster - Bath earlier in the year, and while I was disappointed they lost, I could say that Bath deserved to win cause Leinster never put them away and never went for the jugular when they had the chance.

At both the autumn internationals, and Saturdays game, I couldnt believe the bias some Munster fans have against anyone not of their Red Army. Anything O'Gara goes is gold, but theirs a huge bitterness towards some of the Leinster players, especially the more high-profile backs. I think any level-headed rugby fan will agree that O'Gara was second best last week, and it's not a crazy point to say that over the last 7/8 years, if Munster had a back line of the calibre of their forwards, they would have a Heineken CUp in the bag at this stage.

Ask on Munsterfans.com, usually someone will come up with the goods there. Be nice though, they're not taking this defeat too well.

Not the worst though (planetrugby.com has that title wrapped up). There's a few Leinsterfans on it I think so you won't be alone.

    Here, here
Exactly what i was thinking but couldnt have put it this well.
I'm a big Leinster fan but I was still glad to see O'Connell back from injury and getting a try, he will be a key player for Ireland in the upcoming six nations.

You've got to be kidding me, go to the MunsterFans forum, people there definitely don't think O'Gara has played well in the past 12 months. I don't hear people praising him at the games either. Same with Stringer. Most people who are at the Munster games can't wait to see the end of Stringer/O'Gara.

Nor can I. What a huge pity that Contepomi is Argentinian. He's a class act, for sure.

We (that is Ireland) have a huge problem at half back. At their best, Stringer and O'Gara are adequate internationals. If they're at all off their game, they suck. And as for the back up!!!! Humphreys? He's nearly as old as me. G Easterby? Do me a favour.

I asked Santa Claus for a set of halfbacks and a couple of props, either with Irish accents themselves or with grannies who had. We have strength in depth in so many areas but there really is no backup in either of those areas.

As for the game itself: it was great and a good advertisement for the Celtic League. Along with the 14,000 attendance. But I saw nothing to contradict my age old prejudice that one should never ever ever inlcude on an Irish team, a Munster-bred player who wears a number greater than 10 on his back. And even then, you would have to think carefully about choosing a 9 or 10 from that province.

Munster's backs were ****e, but then they always have been. There has never been a great attacking back to come out of Munster. Any so-called legends in the backs were famed for their defensive qualities and nothing else.

i do like O'Leary and Manning...
although they'll hardly get much game time for the next few years....

Reddan and Staunton were excellent for Wasps on Saturday. They'll never be seen again of course.

For the love of God don't let O'Sullivan near either Reddin or Staunton, both are attack first players, the exact kind of players (with the exception of BOD) EOS hates. Also both players need to work out their games at club level before being risked against anyone higher than Italy/Scotland level.

Yeah that referee was terrible. really destroyed the flow of the game at times.

The game was great, and the atmosphere was great in the RDS. Great game. The ref was a bit stop and start alright.
