Officially, the charge is a cent or two per megabyte. I have yet to meet someone this has been enfoced upon.

    there's a search function? ;)

I've yet to hear of anyone being charged for this. It's the kind of thing that the "reserve the right" to do but will only really enforce if someone is taking the piss.

Heh - I remember a time where I'd stop serious downloading after the 10th of each month because I was terrified of going over my limit. I think I'm usually 150-250% of my limit these days - I've stopped checking. You should too. Unless something radical changes, you won't be charged.

When I lived in Ireland I was down/uploading 90+ GB a month with Irish Broadband and never heard anything. It was a few months after Eircom announced its massive 4GB cap on usage.

The logger for downloading/uploading on BT's site hasnt updated for me since the end of September.....but by analysis of Netlimiters database I'm hitting 200% of the 24GB CAP this month.

Do I care...not in the least!!!

Or, even better, visit the site of your broadband provider.

I go over the UTV cap every month, sometimes by a big amount without getting charged.

    There are ways. :D

If you go into your account settings you can set it to just disconnect you if you go over your cap. The default option though is to charge you a silly cost.

UTV cap refers to download only afair.
