Rumours abound - i've heard Green Day mentioned for the mainstage. A safe bet would to see people like Bloc Party, Feeder and possibly Weezer up near the top of the listing, tho there will be some big new indie sensation up there as well (a la the killers or the doves). There's always going to be someone like Super Furry Animals or Ash playing further down the bill, The Thrills will probably be snapped on after their new album is released and you'll have some old wildcards - maybe Iggy Pop or someone.

Strokes will headline the whole thing i think. They will announce that after their point gig.
    maybe the Beastie boys
    maybe Pearl Jam
Placebo may play as they are announcing a tour.
    Muse?
arctic monkeys + all the other nme bands.

Muse, Radiohead, Flaming Lips, Red Hot Chili Peppers will all be promoting new albums this year, right?

Flaming Lips said they wouldnt be touring Europe for a couple of years at the Electric Picnic appearance.

Perhaps Arcade Fire. Probably Arctic Monkies. Hopefully Placebo.

This time last year they announced a few acts. They'll announce the first acts within the next 2 weeks I reckon and more every week up to when tickets go back on sale (probably February like last year)

The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Muse, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, The Darkness and Sigur Ros are rumoured.

TBH Oxegen is unlikely for RHCP but you don't know. They are touring the UK around May to promote their new album so I'd expect them to play their own gig here. Croke Park maybe?

Didn't they say they'd love to be invited back to it next year?

I can't really remember, my mind was a bit clouded!

the alarm as part of a tour promoting new album "under attack"....

My guess is Muse and Placebo to top the bill one night, and the Strokes and the latest cool band to play the other.

Muse and Placebo one after the other will be mental:eek:

That would be absolutely brilliant. I'd have a flippin heartattack if that happened I don't think I'd be able to believe my luck. :D

Placebo aren't big enough to be a headliner.

Maybe hell will freeze over and Tool and Nine Inch nails will play.

I think you underestimate the following Placebo have these days, im sure if the new album is as good as the others they will be there or thereabouts. I can see them really becdoming bigger than ever this year. if the Darkness and that Abba act from last year can be up at the top of the bill on the mainstage, Placebo certainly can.

I really doubt Sigur Ros / Flaming Lips will play oxegen, they're clearly more suited to EP. The main reason why no one has been announced possibly is they can't get a big enough name. Personally i'd hate to see Pearl Jam the Lips or Sigur Ros at oxegen...

    Roll on the Picnic...

The Abba act from last year weren't headliners, they were an after-event act to wind down the night. And The Darkness were bumped up to replace Bowie, and even so, they were insanely popular at the time - much more popular than Placebo are likely to be. The headliners for the last two years have been Foo Fighters, Green Day, The Cure and Bowie (replaced by the Darkness). All of those are significantly more popular than Placebo.

It's nothing to do with how good the new album is, it's all to do with how many people they'll bring in through the gates, and Placebo aren't going to be a big draw, certainly not as big a draw as the above bands.

Ye i get what your saying, i dont really mean Placebo will be headliners, but will be one of the top acts. I can see Muse being the main headliners (Definetly good enough they headlined Glastonbury!), with Placebo on stage the slot before them.
